I guess ignorance is bliss and all that jazz, i just know my friends have seen my projector and would see any dlp rear projector as a downgrade. I would especially hate it since i typically sit off to the side of the screen so my friends can get the better seats. Last edited by Gotchaforce; 06-20-2012 at 03:48 PM.. |

When you get married some day you will realize aesthetics come into play sometimes and that not everyone want a projector hanging in their living room and want to watch TV in the dark.. |

The concept of a wife wanting a 92" big black box in her room is hilarious. No, i think men and women alike wouldnt want a big hideous black box dominating their living room, you get a 50-65" plasma wall mounted, then you can get a motorized screen. More complex solution but its a lot better then plunking $2600 on something that doesnt do anything right. |

I am far from ignorant on the subject of projectors and rear projection televisions. I currently have 60" Mitsubishi DLP, 67" Samsung LED dlp,(you might like this one, no color wheel) various plasma screens and a 110" Firehawk screen with a Panasonic 7000 3D projector. Each has it's strength's and each has it's weakness'. To put a blanket comment out like you did is just stupid.... |

+1 on projector, if you can afford the space for one. You don't need a dedicated room or need to be rich to afford a decent home theater projector setup, but many people think quite the opposite.
Bulbs may be slightly more expensive, but it gives you a lot more flexibility (can use it outdoors, more mobile, adjustable screen size etc.) As for size and weight, these wont break your back going down the stairs, as they aren't like DLPs of old where they way a metric ton. I had the 60" and it was quite flexible and movable, so I imagine this one would be the same. You will likely have more issues with space and not weight, as maneuvering it into your basement/other area may be tough around corners. These bigger DLPs are great if you like convenience and ease of use though. I personally went with a budget projector setup and haven't even wired anything through my walls, but when I move to a real house instead of my condo I'll be sure to have a room dedicated to the purpose. I have been tempted more than once to replace the projector with one of these Mitsubishi DLPs though, if anything for simplicity sake. Other than that, you can get a good Epson or a slightly used JVC for $1500 or under $2000 even, or a slightly cheaper epson with an extra bulb and come out ahead, giving you extra cash for speakers/receiver, wiring, a screen, etc. |

EDIT: I meant on the projector part. DLPs are not bad but nothing compares to a projector in the same price range as these TV's. As long as your ambient lighting isn't terrible Last edited by joshownsyouall; 06-20-2012 at 04:17 PM.. |

http://www.amazon.com/Epson-Power...B006JGHF70 I have owned the Epson 6500UB, and the Epson 8700UB and both of them are about equal (minus 3D), but are no longer being produced. Great site, great book! It's free for Amazon Prime members, check it out:

And yes, for some the rainbow effect is an issue. However, there are very very few people whom this is an issue for. the positives are that you don't need a dedicated light controlled room to watch tv. The price/performance ratio for 92" is also a positive. Bulb replacement can also be seen as a positive as it basically makes your tv "new" again.... I bought this T.V stand back in May , I am sure it will be on sale again sooner or later . I went over it with Minwax Wipe on Poly and also used a product by Elmer's called Glue-All to put it together, its looks great and fits my 73 inch DLP just fine HEMNES TV Bench – $159, originally $199

Let me ask to all projector lovers, do you use it for day to day for aleast 10hrs? If yes then how long lamp will last on it and cost of replacement?
I understand th importance of projector as well as DLP. I will only consider projector when its full 3D LED which gives life of lamp longer than DLP.. |
