samsung SCH-828 touch screen

Hello. My phone fell out of my pocket into a toilet Monday around noon. I rinsed it in distilled water a couple minutes shaking container...then hairdryer for about 2 hours. The phone powers up but the touchscreen does not work. Is there any hope? Do I need to re rinse it in alcohol? distilled water-again?
Also-the screen lock is on so I am not able to call out or 911 if needed.

I would have let it try longer, i always see a few DAYS in rice.

Dry a little longer with the hairdryer?
I don't have rice.

I took a friends DROID 3 that got wet and had touch screen problems and took it all the way apart down to the LCD off the touch screen and cleaned the contacts between the touch screen circuits and the ribbon cable to the main board. When I put it all back together, it didn't make a difference, still wouldn't touch. I'm assuming either a circuit fried or there was some residual condensation behind one of the pieces I couldn't take off the main glass. Lucky for her I had my backup phone she could use. I hope yours starts working again.

She also did the rice thing. After the first couple hours the touch screen worked again, but then stopped the next morning again and a second dip in the rice didn't help.

Thanks for the info...I have it drying with hairdryer again...if its no good by tomorrow I may just need to get another phone. I was told from a previous phone accident that the rice, though it does work creates new problems with the dust inside a phone...I appreciate sharing your experience.

I may need to buy a new phone...is there anyway to retrieve texts or voicemails from this phone? Will connecting it via USB cable allow me to get messages?

Rice works. I had Nokia phone which got drenched in rain. It wasn't working but a couple of days in the rice helped turn on.

I agree, it should dry for days. Alcohol might actually help (93%) since it will help to displace the water. Distilled water is not good at this point and not recommended at all, alcohol will work better. I assume you took the battery out when this happened? If not your probably not in luck. I am going to assume the screen will not just "start" working again. Its likely something fried. Repair is not a great thing either since the chances something else has damage is quite good. This also looks to be an introductory phone that is has aged on 2.2 which is quite old at this point. I would look for something newer, but used on ebay for replacement, running 2.3 or newer.

the screen, missed calls, texts, email and facebook alerts show up as if nothing happened to it...I just can't get the touch screen to slide the lock...
