All growth depends upon activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without effort, and effort means work. — Calvin Coolidge

Look at where the money's come from: for Wisconsin recall race alone, it was about 8:1 right-wing right wing sources, and a higher proportion of the right-wing money has been secret, unlike Soros'.

Stimulus isn't a bandage needed to prop up the economy forever but is needed (or desired) only until the economy regains momentum, at least if the slump isn't structural but cyclical, and fortunately this one is cyclical, caused by our financial system allowed to run wild and by the reckless fiscal and monetary policies implemented earlier this century, by the politicians you favor. And the economy isn't improving as quickly as it should because your politicians are placing the November elections ahead of patriotism. |

Funny how the volume on the NYSE is at 15 year lows despite the $T's yet the bonus's seem to keep rolling in. "And the GS employee of the week is Fred! Fred managed to produce more fraud in Q1 than entire department combined. Guess we'll have to come up with some new fraud schemes cause this is getting too easy...*everyone laughs*" I mean, you can tell how desperate they are to preserve the smoke screen if they concoct something as silly as "sterilized QE." And I just love this game they play by putting Dimon in front of the House and Congress (not sworn in BTW) and go back and forth insinuating who's fault it is. Geithner does the exact same thing when questioned. And, of course, good ole Ben - he just sits there petting his little dog, quivering some jibber jabber to keep the music going for another month, I mean week, eeer I mean hour. One of the most overlooked Mayan prophesies was the advent of the modern day printing press's ability to distort the time-space continuum and expand the Universe at will, thus adding more time and escaping the realities of the present at the push of a button.

The “vice of specialization” entails the denial of intellect. “It is a denial because it rests on the superstition that understanding is identical with professional skill. The universal formula is: ‘You cannot understand or appreciate my art (science) (trade) unless you practice it.’ ” - Jacques Barzun |

The point of 'stimulus' is to merely set the stage for more 'stimulus' 2 years later, and thus for 'stimulus' to become permanent. We already bailed out the teachers unions once in 2009 despite the fact that the United States has a massive excess of teachers and a massive excess of local government education spending. They wanted another bailout in 2010 and got it. By 2011, the 'temporary' stimulus ran out and the Democrats wanted to pay off their voting constituency by ordering yet another round of stimulus.
You're lying. Federal spending remains at record highs, and is exactly where it was projected to be in 2009. Last edited by Krazen1211; 06-25-2012 at 09:06 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Health care costs 17% of GDP, by far the highest in the developed world, and you people didn't want to do anything about it, at least nothing effective. Last edited by larrymoencurly; 06-26-2012 at 01:14 PM.. |

I can't imagine "tea bagger" being used as a vulgarity, except by tea purists who insist on pouring boiling water through a screen rather than dip tea bags into water. But in the context of politics, calling a TEA Party member or sympathizer a "tea bagger" may be disrespectful but no more so than calling the Democratic Party the "Democrat Party"; it's hardly demonization. |

Your accusation of lying seems to be for something I didn't bring up. It would be as if I called you a liar for saying the Earth was flat when you said no such thing. Last edited by larrymoencurly; 06-26-2012 at 03:58 PM.. |

Oh, make no mistake, a great deal of imagination would be required to come up with such a bizarre sexual practice. But I am not stooping to any tactic... the term is really too vulgar to be discussed openly on SD. If you are older than the average user on this forum then you may well have not heard this term. But it is widely known. Here's a link [urbandictionary.com] if my assurances are insufficient. |
