I hope they pulled all the affected bags from the recall. All my local shops did so I knew I wasn't getting a recalled bag. My dog loves this stuff. This seems like a great deal.

A while ago petbest had another big sale (you can check for older threads on SD) and they confirmed that none of their bags were affected by salmonella: they personally inspected every bag for the barcode indicating that it was made from the infected plant

Every factory food product has problems with listeria, salmonella, e-coli and so forth. You simply cant have a large building full of various meats and food products being folded, spindled and mutilated into pellets without it happening. It happens with people food items and dog food items.

In fact, I think I see fewer dog food related recalls due to contamination compared to people food.

Don't they sell this brand at Costco for $30 for a 40lb bag or is that 'call of the wild'? My dogs have been gobbling up the "Vitality" food from Costco...they aren't that thrilled with most of the 'high end' foods but they like this one.

This deal is very very good once I did the math. It works out to be about $16.25 per 15LB's. Which I pay about $30 per 15lb bags locally

Thanks. In for a bag of high prairie and pacific stream. With 2 GSD and a chow mix a 40lbs bag of Kirkland lasts about 2 weeks.

For storage, look at gamma2 vittles vault (currently $30 at Costco) as they are airtight.

I'll mix this 50/50 with Kirkland to give the kids a change of flavor. Last time with the SD on the firstmate brand I got 2 bags of that. They are currently scarfing that down in a 50/50 mix. I add some frozen (0 sodium) green beans to it for weight control on the 12 yo chow. The GSDs get that as well as they lIle it and it's healthy for them.

I also can't recommend the Vittles Vault enough. After living in Georgia for a while and having mice get into the food all the time, we had to find a way to store the food so it wasn't hanging out in the house. The vaults are not only great for storage, but make the process of feeding the animals a little easier than our previous method.

So you're saying if you see a decline in sales for a product you carry (regardless of reason), you wouldn't put that item on discount to boost sales?

I've read quite a few good reviews on this brand of dog food, certainly one of the brands I'm considering
