SUMMER actually gives you $10 off $50, $15 off $75, or $20 off $100. So if you want to shop around for different brands, just keep that in mind!

This is great food. I stopped feeding it to my dog when they had the recall because I couldn't find it anywhere and now we use Orijen.

This is a great price though!
Orijen is the shit. I feed it to my cats and it's the one of the highest quality brand foods you can buy.

Great price! I pay $48 for this stuff. But I can't buy two bags at a time, my small dogs wont go through it fast enough before it expires.
My current bag of TOTW Sierra Mountain says "Best Before April 30 2013" so I'm guessing it has about a year shelf-life. Just FYI

Yea but Orijen almost never has sales and is more than twice as expensive as TOTW Frown

Please be careful when choosing this food.

My dog, a Lhasa Apso, pooped out blood with her stool when I gave her this food which was contaminated. We took her to the Vet and she became very lethargic for 2 weeks after the incident. The entire ordeal was a nightmare.

I sent it my receipt with the production UPC code to the company for a refund over a month ago and have not received any acknowledgement from them.

Diamond Pet Foods, manufacturer of Taste of the Wild Pet Food, has issued a voluntary recall of limited batches of their dry pet food formulas manufactured between December 9, 2011, and April 7, 2012 due to Salmonella concerns. Diamond Pet Foods apologizes for any potential issues this may have caused pet owners and their pets.

You're absolutely right. But considering that I can go out once or twice a month to eat, it comes out to the same price as a bag of Orijen, which I only have to buy once every two months. My pets' health is very important to me, and $25 bucks isn't that much for every one or two months.

Taste of the wild is good dog food, but I was unaware of the recall. Further investigated I found my state CO unaffected. Still Rep to the Op for the deal. I got a rescue dog that is loving this stuff but she also didn't know what beef was so I'm assuming she isn't picky about dog food.

OT as far as the deal goes:

I switched two of mine to it a couple months ago and have been very happy. My GSD has battled ear infections since she was a puppy. They cleared up. The husky/golden mix started having an irritated tummy with hair loss and blackened skin a few years ago. She'd get a shot, it would help the irritation and clear up some then reoccur. Her tummy is now completely healed up, the hair is growing back -- it's all fuzzy now -- and the black is going away. I thought the black pigment would be permanent.

The GSD is 65 lbs. the mix is 35 lb. A bag is lasting 4 to 5 weeks and I free feed so that can eat all they want. I think they are eating less of this than of the cheap stuff so the cost increase is less than it would initially appear.

*GROSS WARNING* about poop:
I used to read reviews and when people carried on about the dog poop I would think geez, its dog $hit, get over it. Well, now I'm one of them. I have 3 dogs and small back yard. The difference is astronomical. No more big wet piles of poo. That stay forever. Small firm piles that are very easy to clean up and actually eventually disintegrate from rain, etc. it you don't.

(If you are wondering why I didn't switch the third dog -- she is rescue puppy mill chihuahua missing teeth. I have to feed her soft food and/or soften dry. So she is feed independently of the other two. (not to mention that she can't reach their dishes!) I have a few bags of small size food left and a few dozen cans. She is fine and having no health problem. I'm going to use what I have for her and when I run out she will get this kind too.)
ya, Taste of Wild & other grain-free dog food is great... the batches from the West Coast facility that PetBest gets this from has never been contaminated unlike the South Carolina plant on the East Coast.. I rotate among Taste of Wild, Instinct (which 42% protein!), EVO, & Fromm

www.DogFoodAnalysis.com & www.DogFoodAdvisor.com for great reviews & more scientific info

BTW, Aflatoxin is a toxin found in mostly grains, so giving your dog grain-free dog food is much SAFER than dog-foods containing grain (not to mention that dogs evolved from & DNA testing shows they have the same DNA as wolves --ie, they do best eating meat, not grains

Grains like corn are mostly undigestible to dogs & will give them gas or soft messy smelly stools that are hard to clean up..

switching them to grain-free hi-protein makes them much easier to clean up...

my adopted pomeranian-chi's have much better softer glossier fur, muscle tone, less gas, no more soft stools after switching to Instinct/Taste of Wild/EVO/Fromm instead of the Science Diet the foster parents/rescue group was feeding them

Corn is only used in dog-food because it's cheap & more profitable for some greedy pet-food manufacturers

BTW, feeding your dogs/cats real meat (cooking it also kills any bacteria) is healthy & best best but grain-free meat-based dog foods is a convenient healthy supplement/alternative.

Not sure how prices are for cat food usually, but you can get 2 of the 15 lb bags for $40 with SUMMER code as well. (Is that good?)

http://petbest.com/products/CatRo...eWild-RMFF
that seems like a good price i would need to look into more or if others know. I usually buy 5lb bags for 12 so that would make 30 lbs 60 dollars but i do not usually shop around much for it or buy 15lb bags.

Last year we had to put one of our dogs down due to liver failure and ever since then I have been feeding our other dog high quality food. First it was totw but after the recall I switched to Orijen- the expense is worth it to me. I'm sure if most people gave up Starbucks a few days a week they could easily afford high quality pet food.

My condolences for your loss my friend.. Yes, people seem to think that good pet food is expensive, but if they would look at themselves, they would realize that the crap they eat is WAY more expensive. Not to mention that feeding your pets horrible quality pet foods leads to problems later on which means high vet bills (most of the time, but not all the time).

70lb (2x35lbs) of Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul for $61.61 shipped!

I'll check for recall when it arrives, but it seems like they've gotten rid of those bags completely. Thanks Petbest!

You're welcome, thanks again for your support.

We should not have any issues with recall products (as we none of our products were ever affected), but please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or need anything else. Smilie

So you're saying if you see a decline in sales for a product you carry (regardless of reason), you wouldn't put that item on discount to boost sales?
Not saying that at all... I'm saying that this is a good deal because of the coupon code combined with free shipping, not because of the price prior to the coupon code. Sure, it's listed at $39.99(with autoship delivery) which may be a deal compared to some sites, but it's not unheard of, even before the salmonella thing(and potential sales decline). For example... Mrchewy.com and Petflow.com. At those sites, I have been able to buy 2 bags of TOTW for ~$80 for a long time now.

To each their own regarding whether to stick with TOTW or switch foods after the salmonella scare, but the part in bold above is a pretty dull statement considering this sale has nothing to do with Diamond/TOTW and everything to do with PetBest.com
I agree.

Also did any dogs get sick because of this? I believe it was just human's. I'm not sure what material this person read on it. I'm still going to stick with totw.
