1st job ? on taxes and annual salary

If you spend a certain amount of time in another state, you may be subject to their tax laws. For instance I live in MD, worked in UT for 4 months. I had to back out my income from MD my MD tax to apply it to UT and file that form.

I am a teacher in NYC. I understand why I am just a socialist who believes that in the current state of the world we need a government that redistributes capital since technology allows the few to be very wealthy and don't even need the bottom 15% of society. Hence the unemployment. Also obviously the top down approach hasn't worked while the bottom up has. In my opinion the rich will only create jobs if they feel like giving their money away. There is no use in this GDP and budget deficit BS. I would be fine with a fully progressive tax system that taxes a person net worth through audits every year. But I don't believe in welfare at all of any other entitlement or safety plans I believe people should provide for themselves the tools to survive in sickness and old age. Obviously nobody should be denied healthcare and it should cost relatively the same much for every person based on things they cant control like genes. But if someone takes it upon themselves to drink or smoke then that's their problem and companies should do what they please. I guess in some ways I am a libertarian, but my core belief is that someone should not be poor if they were born poor or stupid. And of course all forms of education should be free except those that need to be taught. So people should only pay for lectures not the degree or exams.

I remember coming out of college with a BS is Computer Engineering making 30K before taxes -that was in 2006.

$60k as a first job (assuming here) and not in a NYC/LA/San Fransisco/etc. that is doing pretty well. My first job was as a Systems Analyst for a Fortune 500 company and I made $45k (2006). I'm a Senior Systems Analyst now at a different Fortune 500 company and make just over $60k. I could be doing better (staying with the old company and not relocating/accepting another entry level position), but for $60k right out of school, that's pretty good. Also, experience in Oracle ERP puts you in a good position. My first employer used Oracle and you could move up the pay scale real quick if you knew Oracle. Consulting gigs with Oracle are pretty good as well. I talked to a consultant that was making $175/hour consulting for major corporations (probably on the upper tier, but there has to be some room between $60k and there).

I too have a Masters in Finance since '07 and am only making 47-50k depending on bonuses etc. But I live in FL. If I lived in NYC then i'll assume that my salary would be very different. ut yea teachers have it pretty bad, my wife's sister in law has her masters and is only making 44k or something like that.

60k first job...i think i need to remotivate myself lol
