In reading past ING deals, the fine print always says they are only for new customers. Has anyone ever gotten a bonus by opening a new account while being a current customer of another type of account? How about if an existing account was closed before a new one was opened?

I've gotten the Savings, Checking and Trading bonus with ING and I've even gotten 2nd trading bonus. So yes you can get a checking and savings bonus no problem. I would not close out an account to qualify for the bonus.

ING most likely will do the same as last year as I remember that past 2 years have been the same or similar.

I can't wait for IndepenDANCE day.

You have gotten one for each account each year of this promotion or one of each in total ever? If you already have all three of those accounts, are you still eligible for the promotion if you open more accounts? If not, would closing the accounts beforehand make a difference? That is what I was asking in my previous post.

I've gotten 1 checking, 1 savings total ever. i've gotten 2 Sharebuilder bonus total. I think you can get only 1 saving and checking total ever but 've never tried to get more so i'm not 100$ sure. If you close your checking and savings to take them up on their bonus, most likely you'll have to have your account closed for more than 90-120 days before you are eligible for their bonus since that's how most banks do it.
