Don't forget Toy Story 2 - though that's more like the Godfather and Terminator franchises, people argue which of the two are better. The Toy Story franchise managed to pull off a respectable 3rd movie, something again not done very often (and at least they put it to bed, and did a very good job of doing it). Unfortunately we just watched Lion King 2 and 1 1/2.

I found this and Star Trek months ago thrown in a $5 clearance bin. I picked up both of them, but of course haven't watched either. I'm pretty sure it's a huge YMMV, as all the other Wal-marts that I've seen still have them at $19.99, and I'm pretty sure even the Wal-mart I picked it up at, after a few months, took them out of the $5 bin. The only reason I picked up the 2nd one was because I really liked the 3rd. I thought it might even be the best of the 3 films, mostly due to the slower action, so it wasn't all confusing and you could keep up with it. The first movie's action was too fast and it was hard to keep up with what was going on. I figured since I already had the first one, and will eventually get the 3rd, it was worth $5 to complete the collection.

I remember a post talking about a $5 blu-ray rack at wal-mart but my store still doesn't have that. Only a $5 DVD rack. You're saying this is on the regular shelf with a tag marked $5 or was it marked something else and rang up at $5?
I think the reason people think sequels are worse is because of the heightened expectations they place on the films. My explanation is with Dark Knight. People enjoyed Batman Begins but not that many had the attitude of "this is the greatest Batman film ever" which meant they didn't build up quite the hype for Dark Knight. But then Dark Knight blew us away with how well the Joker's part was written and how good that movie was. Now I fear Dark Knight Rises may let us down a little bit because people are going to expect it to outdo Dark Knight when that will be quite a difficult task. I think it also matters if a movie was intended to have sequels (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Twilight). Many people really liked the Matrix but hated the sequels. Similar to Pirates of the Caribbean. were either of these movies written with the intention to continue? Sometimes a sequel is only made because of industry pressure to make money rather than the writer/directer actually having a more in-depth story in mind. Dark Knight would have been better if it ended after the first hour and been called something completely different. It was a decent Ninja movie. Last edited by empiretc; 06-23-2012 at 07:53 AM.. I was never really scared of the Joker. To me he was a fool that had a mental disorder and a lot of other fools to do his dirty work. I was more confused at why he got anything done other then get himself killed. |

RotF sucked. Nay sucks. Bay screwed the pooch hard core with this one. Half the story is pointless, the other half is lame and you can't even take solace in awesome fights and things blowing up because the moron decided to shoot the entire move 3 inches from everything. Can't tell Autobot from Decepticon in 9/10ths of the fight/action scenes. The human villain may as well have been a poor afterthought. Useless to the story.
The Joker isn't supposed to be scary in a conventional way. He is one of the *master* villain's and favorite foe's for exactly the things you see him as. His madness and complete snap from reality and the world he resides in is what leads to a terrifying lack of logic. He is a COMPLETE wild card. There is never a motive or reason for what he does, there isn't even a victim type. That's pretty farking scary. A psychopathic sociopath with no connection or attachment to anyone or anything attacks at random for no discernible reason with no real goal and no method to his madness. His own life comes secondary to the game, so this is a villain with no weaknesses. Can't predict him, can't elevate your bargaining position by manipulating something/someone close to him and he doesn't want anything, so the option of caving in to his demands is off the table. I think the Joker is one of humanities most supreme villan concoctions. He is about a half step north of the devil on the evil front, you know he is going to slaughter ERRRRRYBODY up in there, babies, grandmothers, cancer stricken puppies, but it's ridiculously hard to turn away and when he loses/dies it's a bit of a let down because you got soooooooooooooooo close to a reason or rhyme and his defeat snatched that away from you. He infects you with the "Daqfuq is this? Dafuq he do that for? Dafuq was the point of that crap, why didn't he just kill him? " then leaves you hanging. Brilliant character. Whomever wrote the Ledger Joker was a master, stellar work keeping the absurdity of the character realistic enough to allow the viewer to suspend disbelief. Off topic babbling FTW!!

my store doesn't even have this movie. Only a two pack of 1&2 and then the third one for sale on its own. Darn the luck.
edit: Is this movie guaranteed to be $5 in the store?
