Just fyi, that's the old generation Vaio Z, pre Sandy Bridge.
Fantastic laptop and arguably the best on the market at the time (albeit at an absurd cost). However, I'd take a look at the Zenbook these days over that. It's time at the top is over and I couldn't justify that for the price. |

No it is the new generation Z, and is sandy bridge. It isn't the newest (Ivy bridge, that was the only major change). http://www.notebookcheck.net/Inte...108.0.html Original retail on this unit was $3K for those who were wondering. Yes there may be better options out there considering this machine is one year old, but for those intrigued by the Z (count me among them), this has been the best deal I've seen on a new Z2.
Be careful, that is the new Ivy Bridge model, which is virtually the same, sans Ivy bridge of course and 8GB standard RAM. You are right and I am blind lol. I read that as Z12 not Z21. Scratch that. Pretty solid deal. Just fyi, these have an obscene resale value. My Z12 I purchased for $850 on a steal here on SD. I used it for 8 months and it was still selling for $1499 retail. I sold it on Craigslist for $1100 8 months later. |

Ok I just looked and Dell wants $999 for a 720p i5 model. How is it way cheaper? This has 1GB Video card (albeit not a fantastic one), Blu Ray, 1080p world-renown screen (not Retina, but it still is among the best ever made), sheet battery that will give up to a 12 hour life, etc... I have the Dell XPS 14z. I have the i7 too. Just a little tad heavier. No sheet battery or blur ray. Even if I encode a movie for you all to watch at 1024x768, you will not see any difference on that small screen. I paid $720 shipped with tax. It was a refurbished w 1 yr warranty. May much cheaper than this Z. |
