This version of the Benq S6 has Linux pre-installed, not Windows XP

Windows XP has been successfully installed however by several members...

Dude in the video wouldn't recommend, says terrible battery life and you would have to buy a micro sd since the built in memory is bad. Although cheap, just a hassle.

no camera or GPS, but it has a cell radio. Would run on at&t's 3G I suppose.

Hmm..I don't know. This looks...interesting.

I...I want one to tinker with, but I feel like it would be an immediate waste of $60.

This is dope. I've been wanting this thing for a few years now.

$60 to run a full blown x86 freebsd/solaris/linux.

Yeah, I have an iPad, Galaxy Tab and HP Touchpad running ICS but it is not the same as running a full blown desktop OS like ubuntu.

My TouchPad runs Ubuntu.

Terribly.

But this thing..runs XP. I wonder if it would run Windows 7...or...hell..Windows 8?

I mean Atom processor, 512MB of RAM. 2GB SSD, but I'm assuming there's some way I could install to the microsd.

Someone tell me why I need this. I want this. But I don't know why in any real world practical usage.

It's from 2008. It was originally released with linux and made a second coming with XP.

not the same. my touchpad runs ubuntu too but that is a ARM CPU/SOC and capacitive touch. This runs x86 cpu and has a stylus which is more like a real mouse in a desktop metaphor.
Plus, there are stuff you cant compile for ARM.

Would be interesting if it could be pulled out of its shell and attached to some hdd's for use as a server. Since that's not a viable option, I suspect this will just be 10 kinds of frustrating.

Yeah that's what I thought too.

I can't find any on ebay (I found replacement screens for $100 though), and too many reviews.

I want to take it up as a challenge to see if it can run Windows 7 or Windows 8.

To have a full blown desktop experience in my pocket...my god.

XP is nice, but I am so over XP at this point.

Dude, I had that in 1999. It's not all it's wrapped up to be.

This thread cost me a $349 Y570 i5 with GT 555M graphics.
