Thread Details

Went to my local Best Buy store today and they had the Nikon D90 new on a clearance for $599!!! Original price is $1,199. They didn't have any in stock but they could order one in store. This is a VERY YMMV!

Thanks & Reps to OP and me jmuralinux Smilie

For everyone who is asking how to find the price of the item in local stores please have the following tips:

1. Just go to your nearest bestbuy and ask them to check for this item in stock. Just ask them what's the current price in that store. They will obliviously say "it's out of stock or discontinued" but will confirm the price. Then ask them to check the nearby stores. When they do that ask them what are the stores have the item for 599. You can tell them 'I just wanted to know if I can find a at least an open box, even if it says out of stock and going to the stores that has for lower price will make more sense' like that. You can even ask for a printed receipt which contains the list of stores and prices.

OR

2. Go to bestbuy.com and search for the nearby stores using inventory checker selecting any item. Get the phone number of each store and note them down with the addresses. Call each store and give the SKU and ask the price of the item first and ask them whether they have it in stock or even a display model (just to get the price). NEVER ASK WHETHER THEY WILL DO THE PM OR RETURN AND RE-BUY OR CREDIT CARD SWAP This will shutdown your chances and others chances very early.

Just know the price, go to the store, look for a charming CSR girl and bring the receipt to do a CC swap and tell them that you have a better cash back in this new card (if it is required) and politely talk to them. If it goes wrong, silently come out and do not create any scene and go to the same store in the noon or evening and ask another CSR. It will definitely happen with any one CSR smoothly.

This is an awesome LEGIT Deal! Go ahead and give Best Buy a call and see if they have it in your area. Cool

  • All you to have to find a store that's selling it for 599. How? Go to any Best Buy and ask them to check SKU: 8975184, try to ask at a terminal where you can look over their shoulder/maybe a terminal on the floor
  • If that store has it in stock, you are good to go .. just buy it with them and move on to the next thing!
  • If they don't have it in stock anymore ask them where all they could be available in neighboring zip codes. Their system will show the availability (may be at 1199 or 599 - who cares!).
  • Have the store where you are at showing for 599 to do an OMS (Order Management System) so you can pick it up at the store showing in stock. They will call the new store to verify and ask them to put it aside for you at guest services.
  • You pay at your current store and just take the sheet (rep will give it to you) with you and pick it up at the new store!
  • Say Thank you to the REP and to the OP
  • No go in South florida

Just when I thought I was really done with this D90, I got sucked back in because of your comment, and could not believe that OMS still worked on this camera well over 2 months later. I bought one more at 599.99, and my count is now up to 32 LOL.
lol.... good going. I think I'll stop at 20 though. market value for the camera already plunged quite a bit

Chances are slim as they will not be able to return and rebuy or even OMS order.. Find another store with low price..

Thanks n repped. One store nearby has it for around $950. I was thinking of buying and doing a return rebuy at another store. But all other stores have this as a deleted item. Frown

Deleted just means it wont be restocked, all clearance products are marked as deleted to indicate they are discontinued. You can still OMS from that store for pickup at another store, or ship from the DC, just no more shipments to that store.

I bought this camera for $1049 at store X and went to store Y for return/rebuy where price was $599. But manager denied for price match. So I returned the camera. Now that camera is available at store Y for store pickup. I would appreciate your suggestion.

do a store pick up right away for that store. Price should be adjusted by the computer when they print out the receipt.

Has anyone had any recent experience returning and rebuying? I got one of these back when this thread started, but then I thought these were all long gone. But now I'm visiting family in a different area and they have it in stock at full price here. I was operating under the assumption that the return and rebuys must have gotten shut down by now. . . anyone get this to work lately?

It will. My cousin just bought 2 from a Miami store, brought them back to Houston to return and rebuy.
