the hydro 5 is probably my favorite since it's very good at what it does. its really weird though. when it comes in contact with your face it secretes a goopy lubricant. its really effective, but feels really really weird.

Anyway I just got this one: http://www.amazon.com/Schick-Quat...B0007OES3Y With coupon and subscription: $15.17. Not bad for 8 pack refill. |

To make sure I ran a full test running the Fusion Proglide, my last Fusion blade, and a Hydro 5. I say the Proglide beat out everything with the Hydro 5 right behind it. This was what... 2 years ago? Then I started dating this girl and I was debating what to leave behind at her place. I first brought a Quattro, as I have like 20 free razors, but it never worked quite well. I said screw that and brought my Hydro 5 (they started giving out free ones on the street one day). Better, but I was still never satisfied. I preferred shaving at home. Finally I took my old Fusion and swapped in a fresh Proglide blade and... wow. Never looked back. I shave with that at her place and my own Proglide at home, and it's perfect. That said the Hydro 5 isn't bad. It just isn't as good All other blades are horrible though. The Quattro and the old Fusion are just meh. The Mach 3 is pretty irritating compared to all the new blades although it did cut well.

I still think the 14 pack of Mach 3 disposables at Costco are the best deal when they're on sale. They go on sale for like $19.xx once in a while and the disposable ones use the german made razor blades (should say Made in Germany on the package). Cheaper than almost all cartridges and I like the Mach 3 since it's easier to rinse the hairs out between the blades vs razors with more blades-I have relatively thick hair and I don't always shave daily so the 5 blades get ridiculously clogged up.

My local Fred Meyer (Kroger) ran a deal on the Hydro3 and 5 razor and refills last year that was too good to pass up at $4.99 for a 4 pack+2 bonus so total of 6 pack plus there was a $4.00 off coupon so we got 6 packs for $1.00 so the girlfriend and I bought like 100 of the 6 packs of the refills and about 10 razors and have both been using them since. We did get a few hydro 5s too for $2.00 but I prefer the hydro3 better. They are great razors give it a try and check out Fred Meyer and Kroger as they always run deals on these when manufacturer coupons are going on and Walgreens too.

I think the Hydro 5 is a pretty good razor. Not a closer shave as you would get from a proglide, but the gel lining on the blade lasts forever! I've been using mine for almost 4-5 months from the sample I got from drugstore. Its on it's last shaves but so far the performance is like a champ. Still have small gel lining so dry shaving is not a problem. I have plenty of proglide cartridges though, so I'll stick to those once it dies out.
