FREE LG Optimus Android smartphone for Kroger Eligible customers (YMMV)

This is a very old Android device and was a low-level phone even when it was first released. Now it is very dated.

Very old?? It came out in late 2010, runs 2.2, call quality is excellent, battery is very good, runs NetFlix, YouTube, google, etc. very well with no lagging...and a big bonus: HotSpot capable (with App) and no upcharge! Great workhorse phone with little to no issues.

I never said it was a bad phone. It will lag and freeze up if you leave it stock, but modding will make it fast and smooth.

The screen is very small and it doesn't have 4G. The internal storage is very small so you'll be struggling with which apps you want to install.

A 2 year old mid-level android phone is without a doubt very old and dated at this point. We have dual core processors, 4.6 screen sizes, 16gb internal memories, ICS, NFC, etc etc

But hey, you can't beat free, and I was able to unload my for $60 on craigslist to some sucker.

Will it work on Verizon?

I agree, this phone tackles most tasks without a problem. Has a microSD slot.

I had one on Virgin Mobile for almost a year with no complaints.

Can't beat google nav either.

I'll bet it's listed as incompatable with at least 50% of the DOTD's on Amazon. Reading reviews in the Play store it's a similar situation. The phone is routinely called out for not running certain apps.

It's free so it's hard to hate on the deal. However, if you want a real Android experience this is not the device for you. It's a step above a feature phone but that's about it.

Actually free seems about right for this phone. It's not horrible to pawn off on your least favorite child or maybe an unruly in-law. Outside of that, it's pretty hard for me to imagine ever wanting to use a phone like this.
