If it's the new Black/Slim console (this one [amazon.com]) than an HDMI should suffice; it's also the easiest route.

Whatever you do, never, ever, ever, buy the expensive HDMI cable (or god forbid, Monster brand). You really shouldn't need to spend more than $20.

After looking, it seems like the cheapest one at Best Buy is $25. You may want to check out Wal-mart / Target because they might have a cheaper one.

Go to Radio Shack if you can! They are the only local store I know that charges an OK price...Best Buy will be $25 for something that is $10 at Radio Shack and $3 on Amazon.

I almost threw up when I was at Best Buy looking at the closeout BluRays and saw a dude buy a $25 Dynex Cable just made me sick! If he wasn't walking around with a Sales Clerk I would have told him to STOP RIGHT THERE!

Same thing happened to me when I bought a TV at Best Buy. I saw a guy buying a TV like me, except he had a 30 dollar HDMI cable in his hand. He did ask the clerk if they had anything cheaper but of course he told him it was all they had. I only buy my HDMI cables online now.

That should be all you need then the Xbox should auto detect the cable when you turn it on if not refer to this guide link [xbox.com].

Yep, I remember reading a lot of complaints about it requiring an HDTV for split-screen, and not advising buyers until they'd already bought the game.

I would have done it anyway. Probably still wouldn't have made a difference, I've told friends that they should get one from Monoprice or something, but they're all "But I want a cable today".
I even had a friend do that with a video card (AND HE HAS AMAZON PRIME). Still drove out to Best Buy to get it (roughly an hour round trip). Would have been cheaper to pay the $4 to get one day shipping.

I did go to Best Buy and buy a HDMI cord and yes it was friggin $49.00 . . . . but I am a true SD'er. I bought this cord ASAP because the three boys wanted to play and I was not going to fight Atlanta traffic to drive an hour to get to Fry's or Micro Computer Center . . . . at least not tonight!

But I will pick up a cheaper one in the next day or two and the overpriced rip off cord will go back to Best Buy.

Thanks to all of you for all of your help. I have learned this:

1. To play Mindcraft multiplayer, the XBOX must be connected to a HDTV.
2. You must utilize a HDMI cord
3. You need to change in the dashboard/controls/settings to HD 720 (at least)

Then you are ready to play. They could split the screen 2 ways or 4 ways. Everyone is happy here.

BTW, you are one of the nicest randoms we get in here. Yes...Mostly the randoms are 15 yo boys that can't spell like Thiktird, but no worries, you set yourself apart, haha.

And, if curious...the reason you need an HDMI for Minecraft is the writing is teeny-tiny when you split it up 2 and 4 ways...they said it would have been too tough/impossible to read on a SDTV. But, as Froggy said, they don't let you know that until AFTER you've bought the game.

It was more directed to BB than to her. I haven't been to one in a couple years, but i had hoped they'd wise up and actually make an attempt to be more competitive after seeing what happened to circuit city. I mean think about it, that's like 2000% mark-up. It's beyond comprehension

That's why they're going out of business soon.

They're the first ones to look for sympathy that they are not an "Amazon Showroom" and that they need to charge more to compete with e-tailers because of employee/physical location overhead, but then they are the first to screw over their customers by charging $50 for a $2 cable.
