In term of indoor signal strength, you have to blame it on Verizon and AT&T.

As most people know and stated in that article, Lower frequencies can travel longer distances and penetrate through obstacles better than higher frequency spectrum. And because of how big and how rich Verizon and AT&T are, they bought all the lower frequencies spectrum. And leave the higher frequency one to Sprint and T-Mobile. So in term of indoor signal penetration, Verizon most likely will have better coverage than others.
It is really a bad cycle. Verizon plan cost more so they have more money and buy up more (better) radio spectrum. Then in turn they have more coverage, charge even more, and they have MORE money to buy up even more spectrum.
So really if you have decent coverage with T-mobile, Sprint, etc, should really support those or there is no one complete with Verizon/AT&T and their price will just keep increasing.

You are right - the data speed varies per the area/location where you are located. I should have been more clear that it is slow in the location where we reside. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. We have decent-good coverage with T-mobile voice and text.

Thanks to the folks on Slickdeals, we were able to avail the offer to add a line to our current value plan. $0 for the additional line until Nov 2014; and then $5 per month works well for our familial budget/finances!

However, when I chat with t-mobile reps, they say what this thread's wiki says - you will be charged at $0.10 per MB of overage etc.

The rep is correct, you might be reading it wrong on the site.

I run a corporate owned t-mo store and haven't heard anything about the $0 AAL coming back.

Then again they usually don't tell us anything until the night before, but still. Usually I'd hear rumor of it in store before reading it on slickdeals....

What's the deal with the t-mobile value plan - I read just about this entire thread, and I'm getting lost. Best bet for me is what?
I have no current t-mobile plan at all, on at&t but long past the end of my contract with them, I need 2 smart phones, would like to add 3 dumb phones for my kids, I have 3 dumb phones that should work on t-mobile, need 2 decent smart phones, don't care where they come from as long as they're cheap, would like good smart phones, ideal would be samsung s3, but s2 is fine, would take anything else if the price is right (need touchscreen for my daughter). No word on add a line free deal coming back today? Could I sign up for the 2 lines first, and wait & see if the add a line deal comes back in the next 2 weeks? Should I go to costco, sam's wholesale club, t-mobile store, or online someplace? I guess if I'm having my own phones activated, I need to bring them with me if I do the signup in a b&m store?
