it works great, i do notice that sometimes ill miss a call sumtimes outta 10 calls or so, it works really good.

First of all you need a T-Mobile branded phone that supports wi-fi calling. If you pick up a T-Mobile branded Nexus 4 for example, this will not work. A T-Mobile branded Galaxy S III will work fine. The international version of the Galaxy S III won't work.

I have acceptable results (barely) with a router and WPA-2 Wi-fi security. When I use a router with WEP or WPA I've had much better voice quality. I haven't been able to do a definitive test to confirm this and there may be other factors. Others please chime in.

I have 3 phones on my value plan. The first two unlimited calling, and the 3rd - mine is 500 minutes. With Wi-Fi calling I always have plenty of unused minutes at the end of the billing cycle.

Wifi calling works great for me.

I have lousy reception at my house and first tried the amplifier - this was a bust since it only seems to help with data and not calls, and I connect to my wireless router for data anyhow.

For calls, I have zero problems. In fact, I don't think you're charged for minutes when making calls through Wifi and it will work over Wifi when out of coverage (even when out of the country).

Thank you for the information, this really helps me look for a family plan (4 lines). Just curious does the Value Plan comes with any basic data for no add'l money, like 200MB?

Yeah it also comes with no data as well. Don't listen to them when they say it doesn't work with a smartphone. It does. My dad has an iphone on with value plan and he doesn't use data...

Are you saying you can get some FREE data at no additional cost? I know they have "pay per megabyte", but is there a FREE one?

Call t-mobile AHEAD of time AND ask for free "t-mobile wifi calling" feature. This is feature is normally NOT free, but if you call and ask, they will add it free for you. Then you can download t-mobile wifi calling apps on your smartphone. Use this apps to call out, then your call will be free. Some find that quality is not as good as regular voice.

clarify: No free data via t-mobile's cell tower. But you get free voip calls over wifi.

No, there is no free data option. The minimum is $5 for 500MB. That one may even be gone now, since they made some changes to their data plans a few months back. If that's not available, the minimum is $10 for 2GB.

I can't seem to find the T-mobile wifi calling app on the play store. It was on my phone originally but I have since rooted it and am running a custom rom so I lost the app, anyway to reinstall it? Thanks

Sorry I meant you can do pay per megabyte as well as just restrict data to a phone and just wifi on a smartphone as opposed to the 200 MB plan.

Official t-mobile answer is "No" http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/33459 Since the voip quality of t-mobile wifi apps is not that great anyway, time is better spend looking for better apps that uses different codec, producing better voice quality. One promising apps is http://forum.xda-developers.com/s...?t=2057887. Since I have unlimited voice, I didn't try it out personally,

Just looked through T-Mobile's Value Plan and it's pretty cool, much lower than what I would be paying for ATT. For 4 lines with 1000 min, unlimited text and 2 GB data totals to 109.98 + tax/fees a month, and I can also changed any of the lines to no data or pay per MB or 200 MB for $5, but I think I will stick with 2 GB, this way I don't have to worry about over usage charge ($.10 per MB for the 200 MB data plan). Now just need to look for phones. I already have an unlocked iPhone 3GS, need 3 more phones (one for wife who doesn't do much surfing, mostly just emails, and 2 for my 13 and 11 yr old kids who would probably use the phones to death), any suggestions to what phones to get? TIA
