All lines eligible for discount for phone discount. If you get classic plan the smartphone will be at larger discounted. If you get value plan, you will need to pay full retail price. However, "retail price" is different from store to store....In my location, costco smartphone retail price is the cheapest.

At one time t-mobile offer free tethering for all smartphone data plan. I am not sure if this official free tether will work in this promo. You can also get free tether UNOFFICIALLY by rooting and installing custom rom. This method are phone specific, so do some homework. I know for certainty that window phone cannot be rooted to get free tether. Android phones are model and custom rom specific.

It will benefit you if you are eligible and goto value plan.

your possible choices on value plan:
5 lines for $100: (2 unlimited talk/text/data with 2GB at 4G) + (3 lines unlimited text, 500 minutes each)
or
5 lines for $120: (2 unlimited talk/text/data with 5GB at 4G) + (3 lines unlimited text, 500 minutes each)

classic monthly plan will be more expensive.

If I already had 5 smart phones, can I use mine?

You phone must be unlock, gsm and work with t-mobile frequency for the talk& text feature to work. Most AT&T USA phone qualify. However, data speed on USA AT&T smartphone will be slower, at 2G or edge speed, might be faster after t-mobile refarming by 2013. Sprint and Verizon are NO GO. For international phone, check to make sure it support t-mobile radio frequency.

Because u still have 1.5 years left, you will have to pay $600 migration fees ($200 each line). You can do it, but it's NOT worth it.

You can migrate from classic to value for 200 each line? Could you just sign upon classic for the discounted phone and then migrate right away to value and get in on this deal?

In my opinion, it all works out to be the same...for example, in my local costco, smartphone on value plan is always $200 more than classic plan....so net zero gain/loss, it maybe different for other retail store which have smartphone "retail price" of gazillion dollars!

So I recently got Sprint about 2 weeks ago and figured that the service sucks so I'm planning to cancel it since i have 14 days to do so guaranteed and switch over to this. Which is the better choice? This or $270/month but with 4 free samsung galaxy s2
