A lot of reviews say you get a high pitched whine...probably from bad grounding on the internal circuitry. I took a chance and bought a refurb from woot last year. Got the whining and returned it right away.

Unless your TV is able to do PCM on the digital optical output, this will not work with the digital optical input on the bar. You can use analog, if your TV has it. My LG plasma doesn't have analog outputs, and I also couldn't set the digital output to PCM. Therefore, it wouldn't work with my TV. |

I have it and it works fine with my LG LED. With that being said, it doesn't work when I used apps like Netflix, Amazon Video or Vudu. I have heard this is an ongoing thing with anything LG. |

Wait a minute. After reading through this, I'm thinking that maybe it won't work with my TV. I got on the SD deal for the Haier L32D1120 TV a while back. It's has a great picture but crappy sound. But I don't think it has optical out, just HDMI, component and regular RCA jacks. Can this soundbar still work at all? If so, without optical out is it even worth it?

****EDIT: You sure you have regular RCA jacks that are output? Last edited by SpyrusNViware; 06-26-2012 at 04:41 PM.. Reason: need more info |

I think I could be in for one of these if I could get the bar and some kind of small powered sub for $100 all in. Not for blasting the roof off but for normal TV viewage in the bedroom. |

the pcm thing really pissed me off about this soundbar. When I went to OTA on my Sony LCD, it meant that it would only work with my game systems and sd channels. Now I'm shopping for a new TV and I'm trying to find one that outputs PCM. Good news is that a lot of cheap TVs can output PCM via digital, bad news is that they are all spdif coax instead of optical now. Going to have to stick to RCA cables I guess.

Whats the model # of your TV? EDIT - oh well there are these as well : http://www.amazon.com/SANOXY-Digi...pd_sim_e_3 Last edited by burticus; 06-26-2012 at 06:16 PM.. |

I'm merely talking about it because people are asking. I have my TV hooked to my receiver via the optical output and the sources into the TV and receiver via HDMI. I don't need a sound bar for that TV. That Coax adapter might work for boazb since I THINK his TV has a digital coax out. But then might as well buy a coax to optical adapter. Then you are stuck buying the cables too...hassle. *****EDIT - Actually, boazb, I think your TV also has headphone out, so burticus is right. That would be a cheap way for you to use this soundbar. I doubt you are worried about digital. I had my mother's hooked up via analog at first, then got her the digital optical cable. It does sound better with digital, but it's not a HUGE difference. I added a refurb JBL 8" sub that I picked up for $40 or $50 and it really sounds quite good. It's not like a real HT system, but 100x better than her TV speakers.
