WARNING: Phone Volume is really crappy.. (even at highest volume) a regular call to a home/cell sounds really low at your end, as well as other end also complains low volume. I tried different tools, volume+ didn't work fine for me(it made distorted), but Volume Rockers was better. all free apps i tried. But what the hell you buy 350+tax almost 400 phone and you have to have a bit compromise on the very basic feature of call quality. If its not an issue, you can be on top of it, I like for its sleek/screen etc.. except this one imp vol issue. Note: even with 4.1.2 there is no much diff i can recognize.

Runs latest Jelly Bean 4.1.2

Jellybean has been optimized for slicker performance (Project Butter), and includes Google Now, which is a competitor to Siri. Also note that this phone supports Google Wallet.

Siri vs Google...Fight

According to several forum posts, if you have a micro-sim card (used in iPhone 4/4S), you do not need a new sim or an adapter to use it in the Galaxy Nexus (which uses mini-sim card): just slide your micro-sim directly down the middle of the mini-sim slot in Nexus, and it should work.

This is a penta-band GSM phone for AT&T, T-Mobile, many prepaid providers, and the rest of the world. It is a world-phone in a very true sense because it's completely unlocked and supports all the major bands in use.

Galaxy Nexus Extended 2000mah battery. ebay [ebay.com] or cheaper here expansys [expansys-usa.com].
Please note that the NFC device used in Google Wallet and Google Beam need a compatible battery to function. A NFC-enabled battery costs more than the generics.

The screen is a pentile HD SuperAMOLED. It is very sharp, the contrast is great, the colors are vibrant, and it is very readable in the sun. Note that there are defects in the screen of some of the phones, so please look for any problems noted in this thread at XDA Developers. [xda-developers.com]

AT&T and T-Mobile both market their HSPA+ networks as "4G". So this phone will get you the non-LTE "4G" on AT&T. All of T-Mobile's "4G" currently is HSPA+.

Anyone know how to improve the speaker volume on this phone? I've tried the Volume+ app but it doesn't work.
Really? Worked fine for me. Make sure under Speaker Settings that the first option, Speaker Modifications, is checked, and Volume Level is set to +10 or a bit higher (I have mine at +13). You can test while playing a music track and go back and forth between the volume levels on the fly.

I dont know how is this phone with other people. But i received this phone. It is cheaply built compared with iphone 4. I decided to schedule ups pick up to return this phone. I think i'll stay with iphone until next Gnex version or i might wait for few months to get this Gnex at lower price
i use iphone before as well, but this plastic from samsung is top quality.
Doesn't creak or anything.

I would like to say their quality is top notch vs apple, the two materials use are in different categories, you have plastic, light weight and haven't had any samsung crack yet. But iphone, one drop and its gone.

I think there are many type of accidents we have with phone. THough i always have case protector with phone, i rarely drop the phones. But how about a 160lb person step or sit on a phone ? In this case, iphone withstand better, does it ?

well, i think with plastic, there's some flexibility there, so it has room to move if pressure is apply.
Iphone is all metal so metals will bend.
Otherwise, we can't prove it without actually testing it.

Samsung Galaxy S3 with 2GB data

or Galaxy Nexus with Unlimited Data

Verizon... Which one do I choose!?
I'd say Galaxy Nexus (or Droid Incredible 4G LTE) due to the locked boot loader on the Verizon model of the Galaxy S3 though it seems like it may be possible to circumvent it at the moment.

I doubted that you ordered this phone. Typical iLiars. What's the difference if you're going to use a case unless you like to donate your money to Apple.

So you have the paid version? Seems sorta silly to have a free version that doesn't work well and expect people to pay up on faith.

Agreed. The cheap plastic argument is from people that have never used the phone.

I am holding a Nexus in my hand. I also have an iPhone 4S. In terms of build quality, the iPhone feels incredibly more solid. Samsung phones are NOT known for build quality or higher end materials.

I much prefer Android to iOS, but one thing that Apple really has going for it is build quality.

If you go to the Developer's website, you can download the full paid version for free. I had to register for the forum on that site but after that, I got access to the paid version. To get to the Developer's website, go through the free version's Google Play store page and you'll see a link for the website. With the setting at around 8-10+, you definitely hear a difference in sound volume.

My friend said the same thing about his iphone4s being more like a "real" phone than my galaxy s2. Build quality-wise, the iPhone is just a brick compared to the lighter/"fragile" Samsung's lightweight build. It's either you want a heavy phone or a lighter phone. I also dropped my phone numerous times on concrete and on hardwood floor. Never scratched or cracked screen. My other friend with an iphone4 dropped his twice with a case on, and shattered it twice.

POOR WIFI! This may be the dumbest question on this thread so apologies in advance.

I have my new Nexus in hand but I'm waiting for my SIM card yet - it's on the way. I charged up my battery to see what mischief I could get into while waiting for my SIM card. The first thing I noticed is that my Wifi reception looks terrible! I'm only getting 2 signal bars while the Galaxy SII next to me is getting full bars. I'm in my house sitting maybe 20-30 feet from the router.

Will this change/improve when I get the SIM card? Does that affect the wireless connection at all?
Should I return or exchange this phone? I intend to use Wifi whenever possible.
Advice will be greatly appreciated.
A well kept secret is that Samsung phone in general is weak in wifi. What I also noticed is the mobile signal is poor too.
