WARNING: Phone Volume is really crappy.. (even at highest volume) a regular call to a home/cell sounds really low at your end, as well as other end also complains low volume. I tried different tools, volume+ didn't work fine for me(it made distorted), but Volume Rockers was better. all free apps i tried. But what the hell you buy 350+tax almost 400 phone and you have to have a bit compromise on the very basic feature of call quality. If its not an issue, you can be on top of it, I like for its sleek/screen etc.. except this one imp vol issue. Note: even with 4.1.2 there is no much diff i can recognize.

Runs latest Jelly Bean 4.1.2

Jellybean has been optimized for slicker performance (Project Butter), and includes Google Now, which is a competitor to Siri. Also note that this phone supports Google Wallet.

Siri vs Google...Fight

According to several forum posts, if you have a micro-sim card (used in iPhone 4/4S), you do not need a new sim or an adapter to use it in the Galaxy Nexus (which uses mini-sim card): just slide your micro-sim directly down the middle of the mini-sim slot in Nexus, and it should work.

This is a penta-band GSM phone for AT&T, T-Mobile, many prepaid providers, and the rest of the world. It is a world-phone in a very true sense because it's completely unlocked and supports all the major bands in use.

Galaxy Nexus Extended 2000mah battery. ebay [ebay.com] or cheaper here expansys [expansys-usa.com].
Please note that the NFC device used in Google Wallet and Google Beam need a compatible battery to function. A NFC-enabled battery costs more than the generics.

The screen is a pentile HD SuperAMOLED. It is very sharp, the contrast is great, the colors are vibrant, and it is very readable in the sun. Note that there are defects in the screen of some of the phones, so please look for any problems noted in this thread at XDA Developers. [xda-developers.com]

AT&T and T-Mobile both market their HSPA+ networks as "4G". So this phone will get you the non-LTE "4G" on AT&T. All of T-Mobile's "4G" currently is HSPA+.

Interesting that the 2012 gnex being is sold at the same price as the current one's lowest price. It also looks amazingly similar to Sam's version. Decent sized battery 2100mah and gorilla glass 2 - two things the current one doesn't have.

They probably returned the galaxy nexus back to Samsung, or maybe in Black Friday. $100 more way be worth the upgrade though.

Hmmm, wasn't expecting the Nexus 4 to come in at $350 since it is the newest phone from Google. One of the reasons I bought the Galaxy Nexus was because I was thinking the latest and greatest phone would be out of my price range. Now seeing this, wondering if I should have just held off and waited for this phone. From what I can see, the specs look pretty good. Hope I don't get buyers remorse.

Well if it makes you feel any better, Samsung has a better reputation than LG in general as far as phone hardware/construction. This isn't the LG of the old Envy days when they were very popular here. It remains to be seen if the 2012 is good in real world street environments/abuse. Spec-wise, yes the new one's camera, battery, and volume are better for sure. I also admit that had I known the new one would be the same price, I would have probably waited too. Interesting and surprising that Google would leave Samsung for a less popular brand. Afterall, Samsung and Apple have been the two big dogs for quality and popularity. Maybe it was necessary to keep the price that low.

Because Groupon rejected Google's buyout offer, I wonder if we will ever see a one-time Galaxy Nexus fire sale like what's happening to the Lumia 710:

Not sure what you are referring to but Samsung has been horrible to me promising firmware updates and never delivering not to mention some of the worst battery life I have ever seen on a phone and Lg android phones rate fairly well

does anyone know how i can change the notification sound? I would like a separate sound for my emails and texts and other apps so i can differentiate instead of all having the same volume. I went under sound but couldn't find anything. Thank you
