I signed up for charter a few days ago and today noticed there deals had changed so i was able to change just in time. I ordered Internet ONLY, i know it they past they offered this package for bundles only.

They are now offering:

Up to 30 Mbps – 10X faster than standard DSL and 5x faster than ATT U-Verse DSL
Simultaneously stream videos, download music and more without sacrificing Internet performance
Free Modem

Install is also now just 19.99, vs 49.99 before

Good deal considering the free modem has to be docsis 3.0.

If you are having trouble getting this offer, try calling: 1-888-438-2427. They helped me get this deal even when I had Charter already, but as always YMMV.

FREE MODEM is a Cisco DPC3010 [cisco.com]

They seem to have limited coverage for the service. Feel free to update the location/ZIP that you have tried and the results (please try and insert so it remains sorted):

As of 10/26/12, the deal is back alive, you need to enter your address and a "WEB ONLY" deal will show. Which is $29.99 per month and 19.99 installation.

Let me guess this is for new customers? I have been with charter for a year and a half now out of contract and the best they could do for me 2 weeks ago was 40 dollars at this plan when I called the cancellation department. I have my own equipment so I just pay the internet charge and taxes. So the total comes to 45 dollars a month. I'm in DFW at 76114 but there's no other high speed providers here besides charter.
I am new to the forum but co-incidentally we got the exact same deal yesterday and are existing customers for 2 years. My DH called to cancel the cable and told them if they can price match AT&T uverse deal for Internet, if not will cancel that too.Customer service rep told about this offer and as much as Charter sucks their Internet is pretty fast and 30mbps speed is slick deal for the price! So no harm in trying.

A co-worker ordered the 30Mbps for $30. We had 15 Mbps for $45 since we dont bundle TV or phone. I called and asked if I could get the 30 for 30 and he said no problem. I then asked how much to keep our 15Mbps service which he then dropped our bill to $24.95/month. Took less than 5 min without having to haggle.

Plus you dont need a DOCIS 3.0 modem for this service, only for the 100Mbps service. If you ever need a modem you can go to your local office and ask for a used one (white box they call it) They had about 50 in a back room. Added it to our account for $19.99 saving the monthly modem fee.

As for a monthly cap... I use usenetserver and thecubenet pretty heavy without ever having an issue.

Hope this info can save others some money.

Available 76131, I have uverse but cant really decide because of reading about the service going down and speeds up and down. Any current customers feel it is better then uverse? I just looked at my bill, up to 12 mbs at $40, this is a better value.

I used u-verse and charter before.

Both are pretty quality in Los Angeles, Ca but charter's speed is way faster and only a little more $$

Has anyone gone through the process of CANCELLING current service then singing up for new service under a DIFFERENT PERSON's name?

What is the turn around time?

How much internet down time?

Is there an activation fee again?

Do they need to send out a tech?

Got off chat, he said this is the first day of the promo. If you're moving, they can only book a few weeks out (around 3 he said). But this promo should be around for a little while if you're moving in the near future.

It includes a wired modem, so if you want wireless, you'll need to provide your own router.

Looks to be an awesome deal, thanks!

The phone rep told me that Charter will not allow customers to user their own modems anymore that is why they are changing over to the free modem rental for the first year. I hope that is not true. It sounds illegal to me.
