I signed up for charter a few days ago and today noticed there deals had changed so i was able to change just in time. I ordered Internet ONLY, i know it they past they offered this package for bundles only.

They are now offering:

Up to 30 Mbps – 10X faster than standard DSL and 5x faster than ATT U-Verse DSL
Simultaneously stream videos, download music and more without sacrificing Internet performance
Free Modem

Install is also now just 19.99, vs 49.99 before

Good deal considering the free modem has to be docsis 3.0.

If you are having trouble getting this offer, try calling: 1-888-438-2427. They helped me get this deal even when I had Charter already, but as always YMMV.

FREE MODEM is a Cisco DPC3010 [cisco.com]

They seem to have limited coverage for the service. Feel free to update the location/ZIP that you have tried and the results (please try and insert so it remains sorted):

As of 10/26/12, the deal is back alive, you need to enter your address and a "WEB ONLY" deal will show. Which is $29.99 per month and 19.99 installation.

I am new to the forum but co-incidentally we got the exact same deal yesterday and are existing customers for 2 years. My DH called to cancel the cable and told them if they can price match AT&T uverse deal for Internet, if not will cancel that too.Customer service rep told about this offer and as much as Charter sucks their Internet is pretty fast and 30mbps speed is slick deal for the price! So no harm in trying.
What is the AT&T deal for uverse? So I can tell them over the phone I went online and did not see this price.

What did you tell them?
I called 1-888-438-2427 the first time I was told this was only new customers, the second time I was told it would only work if I agreed to be in contract for 2 years but the price would not change if the internet went lower. I live in 76114 fort worth.

I couldn't repeat the deal with my parents account. They have 30mb and are off contract, the best they could do was $50 per month which is the full price down from $72.

I even told the guy I could get centurylink for 20-30 a month, but they wouldn't budge. I'll have to try again some other time.

Some progress here in Upstate SC - 29687. I signed up for $29.99/15mbps internet in the beginning of May, with only a 6-month price guarantee. Figured I'd give this a shot.

Started with a chat agent, who said no-can-do and wouldn't work with me. He told me to be a "new" customer and qualify for that rate, I would have to have no Charter service for 90 days. I then called their 800 number and was put through to customer care. She also would not change my plan automatically, but mentioned that I could get the 30mbps/$29.99 plan if I cancelled my service, then paid the $19.99 installation fee and had them "re-install". All in all I would have no internet for about 2 days but I think it's worth it for doubling my speed! I didn't do it right away b/c I want to be sure I plan for no internet for 2-3 days, so hopefully when I call back I will get an agent that will do the same thing. Also, with the new service they will give you a free modem. I asked about future rental charges (as some people have mentioned), but she said they are never going to charge modem rental fees. According to her, they are just having customers use THEIR modems because they are specifically built/programmed for Charter service and *should* work better. This may be annoying to some, but for me my modem is still basically new so I plan to sell it on Craigslist or eBay and get a good $50-60 back.

Also - I mentioned that when I signed up I had to pay the $49.99 installation fee. The agent did offer to give me a $30 bill credit to match the current $19.99 price, so of course I accepted.

Hope this helps some of you. From what I've heard, Charter can be haggled - you just might have to call back several times and try a few agents. Just be sure not to be bully-headed. Smilie

I just renew my contract 1 month ago.. I had 15mbps for 24.99/month for 12 month. I did online chat, upgrade to 30mpbs for $29.99 for 12 month, $44.99 for 2nd year, $49.99 after that.. no contract, can cancel anytime. Free modem if I pick up form their local office. No setup fee. I am in Souther CA, zip 91801.

Had my 15mbps download 3mbps upload service for quite a while here in 91803. Did the online chat but she was unable to apply the free upgrade to "30down/4up", and said to speak with an account specialist, which was closed for the night. She gave me hours and number to call:

Weekdays 9:00a to 12:00a EST
Sat-Sun 10:00a to 7:00p EST
(888) 438-2427

I will have to make a call tomorrow.

Great find. Thanks

Has anyone tried to get a slower plan like 15 mbps for cheaper than $29? I would rather have a 15 mpbs for $25 given that this is for my parents and they don't need fast speeds.

I was told it is required to use their modem. The modem is free if I pick it up. It would be $29.99 to have it installed. I have not picked up the modem yet, it should be pretty easy to swap out my old one.

I have been with Charter for 2 years. I must say they were pretty bad before, they seem to be better now. They used to up-sell me all the time and penny pinch me here and there, tried to charge me for something I did not order then charge me to remove it. But they seem to change for better now and speed has been been pretty good where I am at.

Well, it is not up to charter if you do "illegal", all ISP have to forward the letters from the lawyers.

You should be able to get 15Mbps for $24.99. This is the service I have. We dont bundle TV or phone. It may be because Im an exsiting customer. I've read others had the 15Mbps for $24.99 and have upgraded to the 30 for 30. The number I called was 1-800-438-2427. It seems like its up to the rep you get.
