Redeeming points to buy airline tickets
Maybe this could turn into a thread where people ask the
Gods of SlickDeals
for advice on how to best redeem their points/miles to get an airline ticket.
Well let me begin.
I have 55,000 points on my Chase United MileagePlus account and will soon get another 40,000 points from Chase Sapphire.
My itinerary is JFK-LHR-BOM-JFK with a 8 day halt in London and a 45 day stay in India. United.com shows me that I'll need 80k points+ around $250 for this trip.
I think this is a good deal, but I'm new to this, so what do I know?
Anybody have any better ideas?
P.S- I recently received a American Express Business Platinum offer in the mail for 100k points with a $450 annual fee. (Which is kinda offset by the bonus points +annual $200 airline credit for fees such as checked bags, in-flight refreshments etc+ access to lounges worldwide). Requires a 5k spend in 3 months.
Would I get a better deal with the 100k points from AmEx?
