Was very happy to get about 33 gallons of gas for $45.00 today. The man next to me said - I thought it was only 1 car? So I said, I only have one car (and 4 - 5 gallon jugs).... he said - fair enough! I told him I was getting gas at $1.36 a gallon and I'd be stupid not to get all I could. He agreed and then asked if I wanted to fill up his car too and he'd pay me $2.36 a gallon.... lol. Not a bad Idea I guess, but thanks anyway. Hopefully gas points will be back in 3 weeks or so when I need to fill up again.

I had my first NJ discount gas experience. While it went ok, there was a snag I did not count on. Good first learning experience.

I have done PA gas deals at GiantPA before, so I stupidly thought it would work the same way in NJ, but I was wrong.

Anyway for NJ peeps, here is what happened. Also wondering if this is how it works in other states with S&S & Shell gas.

Pulled up and was asked cash or credit. Gave them my card. I said credit, because I rarely carry cash and I like getting my little CC points. I knew it would be a few cents more per gallon.
Well they do it differently at Shell then what they do in PA.

The machine pumps gas at the current going rate ($3.43 in this case) so it would not go past $99. So I only got 28.xx gallons.

The discount is not taken off until after you are done. So I lost a few gallons. This is not the way it works at GiantPA. There you see the discount right at the pump as it fills, not after the fact.

I was only charged 3x.xx, so I was happy, however I know now if I go for discounted gas I have to bring cash to get the full 35 gallons.

Not something I would have thought of.

Is this how it works in other states as well?

Oh and the attendant said I must do a lot of shopping and got a lot of groceries. If he only knew 99% of it was not from any food at all lol, just gift cards over and over again.

Savingstar has this q "Buy 1 Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt, Save 40¢"

The prices are probably higher at Giant or we did not get the same sales.

Yes. The $5 doesn't just apply to meat...will come off your grocerieswave
You can do two in the same trans...has worked for me in the past. Don't have enough IP to try this time.

Thanks celestial. I need to get some molasses - I use it to make Irish brown bread. Was able to print one coupon from RedPlum but when I hit the back button, I got "abnormal print request." Is there a way to get two prints from RP with a single computer and printer?

Edited to add -- Ignore that question. I was able to reload the page and print the same coupons again. I think I was confusing it with Smartsource where you can just hit the back button.
