Dell Outlet Independence Day Sale 20% off including XPS 13 Ultra Book good till 7/4/2012

Well, I was able to snag an XPS 8500 system on the 4th and was looking forward to getting it next week but now it's been delayed.

I thought this outlet stuff are machines they already have on hand because mine was a scratch and dent.

Your ship date will go back and fourth a few times until it ships. I ordered last Thursday and received it this Thursday (would have been Wednesday but no delivery on the 4th).

My original receive date for my xps8500 was July 6th. It was then moved back to the 11th and this morning I received another email that it was delayed again until the 16th. I'm beginning to worry that it will eventually be canceled altogether. I don't know what the delay is but the order included a 24 in. monitor so maybe that's the difference. BTW after the first delay they offered me a $35 credit not to cancel. The highest I could get them to was $50. Better than nothing, but now I just want the computer.. Still hoping.......

Well, it seems I got a new email today saying my system got shipped today along with the tracking and Fedex ground. So it looks like it's going to be here next Tuesday. Woo.

Speaking of amexblue... anyone get $100 Amex twitter credit yet?

I found out that the screen itself may not be the problem but the ribbon cable that connects the display to the motherboard [notebookreview.com]. The vertical white lines apparently appear when a 720p ribbon cable is used instead of a FullHD one. I don't know if the same works with a FullHD ribbon for a 720p screen as happened with my L502x.

I never noticed it. Someone else told me about the same problem you have as well. I did notice the fan being loud at random. But since I was planning on using headphones anyway I didn't mind the issue much.

First--impressions of the XPS 8500.
Its tiny--really its like a mini tower. It is attractive though and very easy to open the case.
I took a look at the layout and it looks pretty neat inside. The videocard it came with was so tiny, only about 7 inches long. In comparison, I have a Sapphire Radeon 6870--the card is HUGE. Its 11.5 inches long.
It fit in the case just fine. Dell has laid the components out really well. I did have a hard time getting out the video card it came with as it had a locking system I had never seen before--but I got it out.
The PC itself is awesome. Very fast--very quiet--very cool. I played some Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 on it for a couple hours and the hottest component was the video card at like 55 degrees, which isn't really hot at all. For 400.00 you cant build or buy a better PC. Love it.

I just do not like the lack of PCI slots. I am adding a parallel card!
