It's not just a 50" LCD, it's 50" LED LCD. Plus, it's name brand and from a seller most people trust.

While maybe not FP worthy, it's a good deal for anyone in the market.

And the argument of LCD vs Plasma vs DLP et al is probably better suited in a different thread. It's a bit subjective and really depends on your personal preferences, wants, and needs. Some people don't want Plasma because the energy usage tends to be 2-4x as high as a comparable LED LCD. Some don't want LCD because the color contrast isn't as sharp as Plasma..some don't want LED because the cost is higher than DLP...etc etc. And it all may vary by make,model, and year.

+1. I love my plasma also, but this is not the place to debate that. I think this is a great deal.

Folks have to remember that there is no perfect TV.. there's a TV fits your situation and budget. How well depends on features, picture quality, picture quality desired, price, and many other things. From the specs and reviews, this seems to be a great deal.

The good: The Toshiba 5200 series has good all-around performance for the price, with relatively good black levels and shadow detail and minimal uniformity issues.

The bad: Color accuracy is a problem, with occasional greenish midtones. The backlight can fluctuate slightly between light and dark material. Unlike some TVs at this price level, there's no 3D or Smart TV

The bottom line: The bare-bones Toshiba L5200 series offers respectable value for the money with fine picture quality for an edge-lit LED TV.

I want a 60" 3D plasma, here under 850, I currently have a 46" LCD

50%... 50-inch maybe... FP says 50% ... I thought it was 50% off this Toshiba. I almost stroked out... was going to buy three!

I'd be all over this if it had more HDMI

Awaiting the spec freaks to chime in and say that this tv can't be any good because of the 5000:1 contrast ratio.....

Contrast 5000:1 only ? Samsung contrast is 5,000,000:1

Is that not the general truth? I thought LED was the newest technology in LCD tvs.
