Its not sleazy when you agree to terms and conditions without actually reading them or are unable to follow account miminums. Banks are a business and need to collect fees and make money like any business. Its this mentality of Americans that they are somehow owed something, a sense of self entitlement. Everything should be free to them and when it isnt they can perform unethical behavior to get what they are 'owed' Personally im fine with Bank of America in 17 years as a customer ive never had a single issue with them and they conveniently have a branch wherever I happen to be and many atms. I would only really be opening this for the bonus as i do with creditcards and will follow the terms and conditions they have set to get that bonus. I doubt ive even seen a B&M branch for Citibank here. Is 40,000 the best offer they give on new account opening ? Last edited by Scampsters; 07-08-2012 at 08:48 AM.. I did a Citi offer for $250 and closed the account after however long I was required to have it open. It was like pulling teeth to get the money from them once I fulfilled the requirements so be prepared for that. I didn't plan to use it as my everyday account so I can't comment on how good it is.
The dollar amount I earned is less than some of the offers you see from them because I had an account with a much lower minimum. <Patagonian maras, not quite as awesome as capybaras.
Sir, I asked you not to play the song again, didn't I? |

You're clearly in a minority that publicly supports them and their methods. It sounds like you're talking about the overdraft fees debacle. I could care less about that. I've had much worse problems with them, that ate up my actual time in person. To avoid those headaches I'd gladly pay $35 every now and then, they can call it the "No Fark-ups Fee".Considering that I am a first generation American myself, I can't even comprehend the words 'self-entitlement'. My parents put in the time, and now I'm putting in my time. My kids...well they'll be a different story. ![]() We've been customers of the same branch for 24 years now (17 years? ). Only problem is somewhere in the late 90s NationsBank acquired BankAmerica to become BoA. Since then it was all downhill.I deposited a check once, a sizeable amount, even got a brand new receipt. Money never came through. I had to open an investigation with them to determine what the hell happened to the money. For almost a month I had no clue what happened, and kept getting the run around. Then I finally find out they deposited the money into someone elses account with the same last name but a different first name. You're right, not sleazy, just plain stupid. ![]() I have several other stories regarding ignored secure message requests and completely closing of one of my accounts with no explanation at all while I was away overseas and as a result had no way of accessing any funds until I returned to the US. That being said, I'm still going to look into the CitiBank offer for 40k miles, unless they are sleazy and value them at like $2000. Last edited by 1stBuy; 07-08-2012 at 03:50 PM.. |

There's a new thread with your name written all over it: http://slickdeals.net/f/4856776-b...st51527852
Riiiiiight.
Let us discuss after you check it out. And please do bring any statistics to the table to keep this legit and informative for others also reading the thread.http://www.jdpower.com/content/pr...-study.htm For further statistics...please refer to BoA's stock price over the past 5 years. ![]() I'm not even sure what my post had in it for you to provoke the topic of self-entitlement. Further, I fail to see how customers in general - deserve or feel that they are owed anything beyond what is fair or reasonable? Not that I've ever really been affected, but you don't think hiding stuff in fine print Terms & Conditions is sleazy? The way some of the rules are set up, and the way terms & conditions can change anytime is as sleazy as it gets. Terms & Conditions are a cop-out for any corporation. In my post I stated that Citibank will issue a 1099 to anyone who "cashes out" $600 or more of AA miles or TYP in a calendar year. Even though you earned 40K TYP you apparently did not "cash them out" for an award (e.g. gift cards) last year. One trick is to limit how many TYP you cash out per year. As long as you keep it under $600 then you won't receive a 1099 MISC. In the case of AA mile bonuses, they are deemed "cashed out" the moment they are transferred to your American Airlines account. |
