Does language really bother people that much? I'm not saying that it's stupid or whatever to be bothered by it, but it just seems kinda weird to me that someone would stay away from the game just because of language, even if it was considered good or that person was looking forward to it. I personally don't have a problem with cursing, even if it isn't necessary or warranted. As for the game, I played the first one and really enjoyed it. I might pick up the second one when/if I clear my backlog.

It all depends on how it is used. Let's imagine all the cursing in the game are bleeps. Do you think you will enjoy it? And do you think you will understand all the dialogues? Will you be able to differentiate the emphasis when they try to covey rage.

Cursing is a lot like CAPITAL LETTERS on the forum. When it's used properly you will understand what the poster is trying to covey but when it's use improperly you will just tune out the poster or be offended e.g. Quit shouting replies.

So, when I start tuning out of the dialogue the story will just go down the drain.

Good = I wouldn't consider a game good when it contains excessive cursing
Looking Forward to it = I don't want it to be totally disappointed when I play (because of previous point)


For a game series that didn't have any/a lot of cursing, none that I can recall, in the 1st game it's rather strange to change course on the 2nd game.

What about the Max Payne series? I think I read that Max Payne 3 had F-Bombs, where the first two always used "freaking".

I already don't like the direction/style Max Payne 3 went so it's not high up on my to purchase list. And, remember Max Payne 3 isn't by Remedy Entertainment

I would say the cursing was used much more intelligently than Prototype 2.

Did that computer scene from Prototype 2 really turn people off that much? I've played through the game twice so far and I don't remember the cursing being excessive.

I don't think it would be the main reason.

I think it has more to do with the direction they took with 2. They built a new IP and a new hero but you don't get to play the same person in 2. e.g. reading first issue comic book with Spider-man as the lead but in 2nd issue the main character is Venom.

Gamers are just getting started to know Alex Mercer or even cared about him. But by jumping to another character you are basically starting over from scratch, which is rather dangerous for a new IP.

Prototype also made Alex Mercer the bad guy. Can you see any comic book survive with a hero turning to the dark side on the 2nd issue?
