Top 5 States You’re Most Likely to Run into a Slickdealer

It shouldn't be surprising that there are so many visits from "DC" IP addresses. Those are all the gov't workers doing their shopping on the taxpayer dime.

Well common now there are at least a few of us here in Montana

map is labeled "Map shows total number of visits from each state", so it appears they made no attempt to have the level of the data in the map (directly) correspond to the level of the data in the post. that said, I'm kinda curious how that map would look

Wow. For a website good at deal math, this McGraphic seems to be incredibly bad at statistical math!

As others have noted, the first step toward assessing how likely you are to run into a slickdealer on a statewide basis would be to calculate the percent of slickdealers per capita. Now that would make for a much more interesting McGraphic.

Of course anyone seriously nitpicky about statistics would bring up issues of whether the *unique* ip addresses recorded from site visits are really geographic indicators or not (e.g. corporate or personal VPNs, cellphone usage when traveling, people who live in one state but work from another, dynamic v. static ips, etc....).

Then a philosopher might want to point out that to literally "run into a slickdealer" would have take into account the area of the state. As one wag posted above, you aren't likely to run into anyone in Montana--because not only are there not very many people, the state is really big.

So once again, all this affirms my faith in the slickdealer community. Most of what I've said here has already been snarkily pointed out above. What makes slickdeals great is the active, engaged, critical and snarky commentators!

(Now if only voting rights could be restricted to slickdealers... maybe we'd have a Congress that could manage to pull its head out of its partisan a-ss....)

Doesn't DC have the highest crime rate in the nation which makes perfect sense since the SD'ers keep getting robbed and they have to find Slickdeals to replace their stolen items over and over again.

Yes, yes, we did account for state population. If we didn't, then California would be number one, Texas would be number two and DC would be nowhere near the top because DC has fewer people. So even if California has way more SD visits than DC, DC is still the most likely place to run in to a Slickdealer because there are fewer people in DC. The visits were adjusted to visits per unique, then uniques per state, then uniques per state to population per state (or district). Does that calm nerves?

And no, we didn't account for commuters. That, I can admit, was a shortcoming.
