For those of you that might have not heard the whole Flood crisis was fake -- the natural disaster just gave both Seagate and WD an excuse to jack up prices and make Huge profits...

See here [softpedia.com] & here [pcmag.com].

So I guess retailers like Fry's Electronics are making this up?
Notice to Customers: Due to the flooding in Thailand and the foreseen shortages on hard drives, Fry's Electronics is limiting hard drive sales to a quantity of one per customer at this time. Please contact a Frys.com Customer Service representative at service@cs.frys.com [frys.com] or 1-408-350-1484 if you have questions in regards to the limits placed.

The floods were real. WD was affected a lot worse than Seagate as one of their factories ended up completely flooded and most manufacturing equipment was a total loss. Also, the biggest issue was not the damage that the actual drive manufacturers sustained but rather that all the major manufacturers relied on main spindle bearings made by one company. That company was extremely devastated by the floods.

Why, because they don't take returns/exchanges on opened computer stuff?

The larger 3.5" external HDDs are the separately powered ones. This one is a 2.5 laptop or "portable" drive that is powered by USB (bus powered)

Nice plug-and-play item which is a USB 3.0 interface for quick transfers of your important data.

I'm surprised this is still in stock. Usually B&H inventory is something that solely depends on the company's vendor.
