How can I improve my android wifi connectivity?

Im having problems connecting this 7" android tablet in hotels or in some places at home. Laptops work fine but android tablet wouldn't. have to move a lot closer to router to get it connected. Is the any boost programs that work? Tried Wi Fi booster connect from market but that didn't help at all. Any suggestions?

the issue is just that the android has a much smaller antennae, so try moving the router or setting up a repeater

Those range extender apps don't do anything except fool you, IMO.
What brand and model of Android do you have, that it has such poor reception?
Mine is virtually as good as my laptops.
I do extend the range at home, wifi to wifi with a program called "Connectify" so as to have greater range with my tablet in an area of the property that is normally out of range.
That is to say that I have an AIO PC that is approx 60 feet from the wifi router, but gets good reception, then it takes that signal and re-broadcasts it so other wifi devices have greater range along the direction that the AIO is in.

Try holding the tab. in different positions and sit closer to the wifi router.

It may be one of those Chinese tablets that doesn't even stamp the brand name onto the device. I wouldn't have thought it possible but someone brought one to me last week and I only found what it was after she left by Googling it. (ePad [amazon.com])
Judging by the chintsy feel of the device, I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised if it had lousy wifi reception.

You didn't say what tablet you have OP!!!

There was an issue with early production Asus transformer prime tablets where the WiFi antenna was off and they did a recall.
