When do air conditioners go on sale?

Hi all,

My bedroom window A/C unit just hit the skids and I'm in the market for a new one. I've found a low profile one at Sears that is advertised as being 'the quietest one Sears sells', but it's a little pricey. Right now I've got a cheapo unit that is prone to making an awful racket if it starts to vibrate or whatever and I'm debating just using it and waiting until the bigger units go on sale. I'm thinking/hoping maybe August or something? Anyone got any tips on A/C sales?

Also, anyone know if units like the one linked to are dark during the day? Some of the reviews say that the low profile units have different compartments for the fan and compressor which is why they are so quiet, does anyone know if this extends to blocking out light as well? We've got some Whirlpool units in other rooms of our house that are just black inside and don't let any light in at all, it looks like a result of the styrofoam used. However I just bought one from Lowe's that I'm hoping to take back because it's like having a spotlight in my room due to it using thin white styrofoam. I sleep during the day a lot of the time and my room is pretty much completely blacked out- windows taped up, etc, so the amount of light let in can be a factor as well when considering what unit to buy. Again, anyone familiar with stuff like this? Thanks a bunch for any help.

Once the hot days are gone... Or atleast that's clearance.

With July 4th here some things should be on sale.
