Alienware

In my opinion they are complete waste of money. Computers are fairly easy to assemble, and even if you don't know how to put the pieces together I as sure a friend could assist. Shop for the parts online and build your own. Not only will you be able to put better parts in the computer, Alienware puts the cheapest parts they can buy at bulk, resulting in poor reliability. When you pick your own parts you can get all the most reliable components, resulting in better performance and more reliability. I have used Alienware before, it was nice looking but did not compare to my own built computers, plus you can get some cool looking cases these days anyways.

I built a similar PC to an Alienware priced around $2400 for about $500 for the PC and I can play Crysis 2 on Ultra, and any other games and its a 3 year old PC now.

For the cost of an Alienware, you could build a PC that would benchmark at the top of the charts.

I was looking at a laptop, and I cant very well build that. I am a sucker for eye candy, plus I wanted to give my old laptop to my mother.

I always get my parts from Newegg and usually use my shoprunner membership for free 2nd day. However the Alienware laptops are not bad by any means, but IMO are over priced for the "eye candy", but I agree they do look dang cool. You can find a better laptop for cheaper though, check out Asus they make some pretty decent laptops for the money.

My son just bought the new 14 inch laptop but happened on a one time price mistake and got it for $621. I think the laptops are good but they are very overpriced and I think you can do better for the money.

where did you get it? Does he like it?

He loves it so far. He got it through AAFES on a Dell price mistake. It was a real pain getting them to honor the price and took over a month. The deal is long gone.

question about price matching. Staples says they price match from dell, does bestbuy do it as well?
