Polk Audio Monitor70 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) $160 Free Shipping Newegg

For those of you hoping for this speaker will go back down to it's low point of 150, I don't think it's ever going to happen. This is the lowest it's been in the last 6 months, and it likely will not get lower.

So if you're on the fence, pull the trigger. They're beautiful speakers at a great price. Beware though, both of mine came with damage to them. That's just the nature of the speaker. They'll just RMA you a new one, or you can take a store credit and keep them. I bet they've issued so many store credits and refunds on these that they haven't able to afford to sell them for this cheap.

The broken ones end up on ebay through this company in Las Vegas. The M70s with minor damage (cracked grills and/or 1-2 small chips) go for about $115 shipped. Not worth it if you can get a couple of new ones at this price though.

Polk will replace the grilles that break in shipping on these. They did for all four of mine.

I have a lot of good things to say about these speakers though they can be a bit muddy in the mid range and sound better bi-amped.

I'm wondering if I'm missing on a lot of what mine have to offer since I'm only doing 100W from a Yamaha receiver.

What kind of information did Polk ask you when you called them for the broken grills? I bought mine both off Newegg open box. I was also considering getting some 60s with broken grills off ebay.

I've been checking frequently. It's actually more than 1 seller, but most of them originate in Las Vegas for some reason. I'm assuming Newegg or Polk sells the broken speakers to these wholesalers really cheap because they can absorb ebay fees and $80 shipping charges and still make money.

I hope you're looking into getting 70s and not 60s, because I don't want any more competition in getting my rear set. I got some Monitor40s off Newegg open box for $97, but decided to spend a little extra and get 4 floor speakers. Looks so much better, though it's overkill.

#1 Yes, you're underpowering them.

#2 They only asked for my recipt and shipping info in a single email --I got the replacements a week later.

I've had good experiences with these speakers, good price too.

That's what I needed to hear. So you sent them an e-mail but didn't call? I think I sent them an e-mail already, but haven't gotten anything back. Hopefully it's not an issue that mine were an open box item.

I wasn't anticipating spending this much for a home theater, but I figure around $500 is okay for what I'm getting. It sounds fine with my receiver. I don't think I want to go through the trouble of Bi-amping them.

I believe this is a 72 hour sale? Surprised this is taking so long to hit FP. They haven't been this cheap since January.

Do you need a receiver to make good use of this? I don't need a sound system right now, but I can make one if these are a good deal. I have crappy computer speakers right now.

You could just get an amplifier if your PC will be your only source.
