Satellite should only be considered if you have no other choice. FIOS is best and Cable second. Both of what you list are about the same. So go with whoever is cheaper/offers the most.

I agree with Dealgate. Fios if available, then cable, but I would personally avoid Comcast at all costs. I had nothing but issues and headaches from them. With bad weather satellite will be out way too often. Just play all the companies against each other for the best deal. I recently moved and ditched Comcast to get Fios. You should hear some of the offers I am getting now to come back.

Bottom line is cable companies are monopoly's and treat customers like crap. Time Warner Cable & Comcast are always on the top 10 mosted hated US consumers lists. Your in a tough situation because of the weather situation. But I would say give Directv a chance and get a protection plan to cover yourself whenever it snows and you loose the satellite signal and service. Directv basic protection plan starts at $6 a month. Only downside is that once you sign up for it you are locked into the protection plan for a year.
