Oh damn! I just bought several stuff at Gap and Banana Republic with their 40% off deal stacked with the 15% off $75 purchase. I wish I saw this last Tuesday when OP posted it or it would saved me even more. But then again, I should have just bought from PlasticJungle...didn't even think about that when I bought stuff the other day and used all my remaining Gift cards but I could have used more gift cards bought from PJ and then get more cashback from ShopDiscover (5%) or Chase and Mr.re-bates (3%)

So the way I see it this is really apples-and-oranges... the BF deals referenced are only for a pretty specific list of (probably high-margin) items. If you don't happen to be in the market for those particular items, you're going to end up getting a "great deal" on something you wouldn't necessarily have bought, so getting half off of something that costs 25% more than I would have otherwise spent isn't that great of a deal. It's not really comparable to getting nn% off a gift card that you can use for anything in a store (and that, in turn, is not directly comparable to getting straight-up cash or cash-equivalent). So that all being said, what are the best deals you can get for gift card redemption? From what I've seen 20-40% from time to time is about it. |

Also there's the opportunity cost to be considered.. if you "save" all your points waiting for a better deal to come along, you might be waiting a long time and you're losing the opportunity to actually use them. Not to mention the potential risk of fraud related to GC reselling... |

What's an "extremely high discount factor"? "Gift cards are subject to the same discounting" as what? I'm trying to find more creative/efficient ways to use my points... that's why I'm here talking to you. |

Plastic Jungle and Cardpool are selling Gap GCs for 20% discount, it doesn't make sense to use your UR points when you can use those points for something else. Something which I should have done last year or I would have bought more and more expensive stuff from Best Buy. The BB BF deal using UR gives you 25% or more discount (no tax, free shipping!) and you can always return the items to get the full value including the tax! I received $500 worth of BB GCs which I used to buy Amazon GCs at the store that I will then use to purchase a Panasonic 55" VT50 Plasma HDTV on Amazon. SLICK!!
