Noyouaren'trite. Dhimmi is a term that has probably been used by unlearned morons like Michele Bachmann and Gaffney more than the world's muslim population combined. The concept (as best I can deduce) was actually related to a tax that non-muslims paid while under Islamic governance during the days of empires. The muslims had to pay a wealth tax called zakat, while the non-muslims paid nothing. Additionally, the muslims were expected to serve in the empire's "military", while the non-muslims did not. So in exchange for protection of their lives and economic interests, and in the absence of Christian or Jewish-religious imposed tax, they paid a fee to live protected and free under the Islamic government.

But specific to the slavery topic, you don't exactly see too many slaveowners in the world these days. I'd say even if it was permissable 1400 years ago, credit muslims, it's not being practiced. A couple hundred years ago a Civil War was faught here in the "Land of the Free" in part over it.

Please educate yourself instead of regurgitating phrases others use, or dropping keywords from some xenophobic website.
