Great deal. Too bad shipping to Florida is 14.xx . Amazon has these for 125.22 right now.. Saving 10.00 here. Hmmm..decisions..

I read that they pretty much sound the same but the straight cord is quite long in comparision. For more portability, I guess coiled is preferred .

If you ever think about using it in public, get the coiled one.

Plus, don't get the white one unless you don't use it very often. Mine gets ugly when it's dirty.

Is this better than Sennheiser HD555? I got HD555 on last year for $60.

My opinion? Yes. But I never use it for rock music. So...

These have better construction overall and better isolation. Since these are closed (not semo-open like the HD555), you get better bass. Also, these are usable in a public space without annoying people, the HD555s will leak sound. The HD555s are more comfortable for long term listening, the M50s are more "exciting".

Are these overkill for some headphones at work? I wanted something more affordable a little under 50 bucks but something portable as well.

Thanks for your answers. I read a lot of good reviews about this M50, but nobody compared this to Senn HD555s. Some reviewers compared this to <bosevomit>

The problem with the coiled one is if you stretch it out then there is a constant force pulling on your head.

wish I saw this last time around. How easily does this get dirty? I was thinking about using them when I am on the computer. I really wasn't planning on using them in public, but when I carry them back and forth from school, would the provide case protect against it getting dirty very quickly?

Same here, Getting it sometime next week but just noticed they have a modified version that detaches from the unit itself. Chris, is this an in-house mod or a mod provided straight from Audio Technica?
