Blackberry/TracFone Help with Prepaid Minutes

Hi I am hoping someone here is knowledgeable enough to answer my question as Verizon looks at me like I have 3 heads when I ask them.

I recently purchased an iPhone 4s to keep my Verizon unlimited data plan. I had a BlackBerry Curve. My 8 year old son who has a TracFone has about 600 minutes on it and now wants to use my old BlackBerry handset.

1. Is it possible to use a Blackberry Curve without a data plan?

2. Is it possible to transfer the 600 minutes to the Blackberry?

3. If the answer to question #1 and #2 is yes, who does the transferring since the minutes he has are prepaid?

Thanks so much in advance for your help!!

According to the wiki TracFone is a GSM provider http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trac...s#TracFone. Unless your old blackberry is a world phone you are probably out of luck. Verizon is a CDMA carrier and CDMA and GSM are incompatible on non world phones. Now TracFone does have other companies under it that do have CDMA options, so verify what you have.

To answer number 2 and 3, The minutes stay with the SIM card. So there is no way to port minutes from tracFone to verizon. If your blackberry is a world phone, and is unlocked. In theory you should be able to put the Sim into it and activate it on tracfone. There is a lot of "IF"s in there though.

Seems like your only option will be to:
1. Let him use the TracFone until the 600 minutes are gone.
2. Activate the Blackberry on a new PagePlus (or Verizon) prepaid cellular account.

I can confirm its possible. I have a Verizon Blackberry(bold though with GSM capability) and it works fine with Straight Talk after unlocking it. Only issue i have is that the "Verizon" portion will always be there, aka the old verizon phone #. It works great though. I was told TracFone dont work with other phones and straight talk is the way to go but dont quote me on that one.
