Just out of curiosity... I use my external hard drives once every couple of months to back up my computer when I reformat/run out of space. Are the people who are having problems with these units the same people who leave them running day in and day out?
I can't seem to fathom a product like this giving me any trouble given the limited usage it will see. Am I wrong to think this way? |

I know what you are thinking, this is such a tremendous value per GB!
Now stop. Go online and read about the Expansion series of drives from Seagate. Now that you are done, thumbs this down so people that don't know any better realize that this is the cheapest 3TB drive in existence because it is also the most unreliable. |

Sweet
I'm in for one. Thanks.

3TB drives in general also tend to be designed as storage drives, not performance drives, so prepare for chug-chug-chug. Unless you're on a mini-ITX build or something and only have one drive bay, I'd recommend using a SSD as your boot drive to install windows and your favorite frequently used applications on, and then get a better quality 3TB drive for storage where you put your music, videos, etc on. |
