Yeah, In "slightly better version model" the developer team is USA based with close ties with LINARO Linux / Ubuntu / android team. Wih promises to support software / driver etc.

They also got good community support, See their wiki page in opening thread link.

A little off topic, but if you're looking for a cheap, low power NAS which can also run Linux, the DNS-323 is a great option.

You can get one here [amazonwebstore.com] for $79 refurbished (diskless) and either put Debian [cyrius.com] on it or run Linux using Fonz fun_plug [nas-tweaks.net]. I have one running ffp, which serves as a:

Media drive (for streaming audio/video on LAN)
Web server (lighthttpd + mysql + php)
Version control server (SVN, Git)
SSH server

EDIT: Apparently to run Debian, you need either A1 or B1 revision of this device- C1 is NOT supported. So be mindful of that when purchasing.
