weird, i recall getting one at frys.

anyway, these can be useful. i looked into these when i first got my xbox and was trying to play it on a monitor. i got another one, not sure why. maybe just for old time's sake.

fyi, this is a female 3.5mm. most mp3 players/phones need a 3.5mm male plug. you can use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm male cable and connect to this though.

It's handy if you need a longer plug. I believe it will be cheaper to find a really long 3.5 m/m and connect it to this adapter than a really long rca to 3.5.

As long as you have a double male-3.5mm ended cable to plug from your phone jack to this adapter, then yes it will work. BUT, they make these cables in 3'-6' lengths with a male headphone (3.5mm) jack instead of a female 3.5mm jack, which may be a better alternative for you and many others here as it would only need the one wire and not a double male wire and this adapter.... (unless you already have a double male 3.5mm cable then this is cheap) These female adapters are for specialty uses which are far and few between. Example, I just used one to connect my 3.5mm flush dash mount aux input (IS335) to my PXAMG iPhone/AUX kit, to add aux input to my stock radio... I would rather have not used one personally, I think the less connections the better the sound, but for my purpose it was the cheapest option for my application.
