Samsung galaxy s3 149.99+ tax(with 2 yr contract) @ bestbuy, price matched with target mobile YMMV

I actually got my S3 for $108 at Best Buy after price match and freedom phone $50 credit. The problem is with Best Buy is the clueless reps who often screw things up, but if you hold their hand and guide them through the process, it's worth buying it there...

I got my Samsung Galaxy S3 yesterday at Walmart. I upgraded my current plan for another two years. The phone is $148 + tax at $148 instead the retail suggest price of $699. I went to Best Buy, Target even I got them to price match, but sale tax is killing me in CA when they try to tax me at $699. The Sale man told me. It is a CA Law require retail suggest price on cellphone I don't know how Walmart and Sam Club didn't follow this law. Walmart have this phone for sale at $148 without price matching. I walked out with the phone about $158. I am happy without doing any price matching fright

I know the price is low OP that one could imply it must be under contract price, but please add it anyway so people dont get fooled into hoping it is unlocked.

Not quite the same thing....any one with half a brain (or who has been in SD for a while, which you have been seeing your number of posts) would know that any just released smart phone that sells for $149 (or even $199 ftm), is a phone on a contract.

Comparing this to getting a Scion for $100....OMFG...

I am trying to checkout online at Target Mobile and Walmart, they show $199 for a family line upgrade, but explicitly mention ZERO tax (in CA). I am confused why it shows no tax online and why they charge tax in store - should be consistent IMO.

I bought it from Amazon. Saved on tax.

Did you completed the checkout in order to show zero tax? Sometime the sale tax will not show up until you confirm the order before submit. I just went in the store to get my phone. Sometime online system don't have the same price in store.

Did you able to get Amazon to price match down to $149? I tried, but they refuse to do it on Radio Shark promotion at $50 off on any smartphone. I think I got the fair deal for $158 total on my phone. At least I got the phone now and without waiting for next week.

Zero tax if they registered their online store under a separate entity and do not own any office/warehouse in CA.
