Ugh.. I would be all over this if I didn't purchase the Atlantic Technology 2200 set a few weeks back.

I've been kicking myself ever since I missed that last one. Thanks OP, I just picked these up.

Too bad Woot now has sales tax for my state.

I bought this set a couple of months back for $250. They sound super in my great room (12 ft cathedral ceiling). I have them mounted on the walls (in 5.1 configuration). Very satisfied with the purchase. FYI -- at the time I purchased from Best Buy, they retailed them for $550, were on sale for $350, and I talked them down to $250.

how do these compare to the Klipsch HD 500. These are also now in the $200-$230 range.

Also curious about the comparison. The Quintet doesn't come with a sub, and the HD 500 does. Therefore, if the sound is very similar, I would go with the HD 500 at TigerDirect.

Quintet plus a decent sub would be better, but you get about the same value per dollar I would put the quintet in my living room, but the HD500 is more of a bedroom set for me personally. But, I like big sound.

Ok, I pulled the trigger on the Quintet based on SlickDillie's advice. DON'T MAKE ME REGRET THIS!

Just a warning, these speakers are not meant for music. Only use these for movies because they are terrible when it comes to playing music.

Worse case you make $20 to $50 on Craigslist...

I bought the quintets from the Woot/Amazon deal and then a Klipsch 12" subwoofer from an Amazon Goldbox deal ($250 down from $300). The sub arrive damaged (someone dropped it during delivery) but it worked fine. If you get the quintets, definately invest in a sub. It changes the listening experience. When I called Amazon about the damaged sub, I actually decided to downgrade to a 10" sub (for $199) as the 12" was huge and really did provide too much output for us (we have a one year old who needs his sleep!). The 10" is perfect for us. I mounted the Quintets (two front surrounds, 2 back) and also bought two additional single quintets (left and right fronts) to make it a 7.1 system as my yamaha receiver supports it. I am sure you could spend a lot more on a better system, but for most this system is more than adequate and really provides an enjoyable movie experience. Also, I have found with music its is not bad at all. Very clear, although I did have to turn the sub down to keep it from taking over the music). People who don't like them for music probably have higher expectations that I do though. Too me, it sounded great.
