Locked in a Coin Laundromat and other stuff that only happens to me....

You need to add the following item to your laundry day toolkit:

I know! I'm having the same troubles! If you quote them to reply, THEN the linkys show up... then copy and google to figure it out... at least that's what I've had to do!

If calling the 800 number did not work, and if 911 laughed at me, next step would have been one of their tables for folding clothes through a window.... I was NOT going to stay there all night or try to find another way out!!

Yep, you read that correctly.... I got locked into a coin laundromat..... here's how it went down....



this laundry mat is like one I've never been to before.

There were vending machines, washers and dryers, and change machines (which were out of change).... two bathrooms, some tables for folding clothes... and that was it.

No human "attendant". No office. Just a hand written sign on the door with the hours (6am to 10pm) and signs everywhere saying not to litter, don't leave your clothes unattended... the usual stuff.

We got there at 8:30pm. Loaded up a bunch of washing machines and waited....

A Guy came in a few minutes later, to rotate his laundry to the dryers, waiting till they were dry, then he left....

we were finally done and loading up the clothes about 20 minutes to 10pm when a lady came in... realized the change machines were out of change and asked how long I was going to be around. I told her I was almost done, but I could hang out another 15 min.

So she left to go to the corner gas station to get change, and we finished getting out stuff together, dragged it to the front door and attempted to open the door. Front door was LOCKED!!!

It was 15 min. to 10pm!! WTH!?!?!

I pushed, I pulled, I shook the doors.

The girls did there "home alone" look -- "OH NO!!!" with hands on face. "We are locked in!!! What are we going to do?????" (they can be so dramatic sometimes...)

They also had security cameras EVERYWHERE!! So how could they miss us, that we were STILL IN THERE?!?!?!

There happened to be a sign up on one wall saying "if you have a problem with a machine, call 800-.."

So I'm thinking, great. I'm going to call INDIA and be like "yea, I'm locked in the coin laundry... " and they will say "May I take a message please?"

So I call.

and I get "Blah Blah Laundry". It was the number to ANOTHER laundry mat!!!

So I say "yea I'm here at the Coin Laundry and I'm locked in..."

The lady on the other end says "Wha? Wait a moment please..." and PUTS ME ON HOLD!

When she comes back, she says "what's your name?"

So I tell her and AGAIN, say, "I'm here at the Coin Laundry and the doors have locked and I'm locked inside!"

She says "WHA??? Just a moment please...." She says "where are you? what's the address?"

me: ~sigh~ "I don't know! It's the XYZ Coin Laundry on (a major road)! This number is on the wall as the number to call if you have a problem! I have a BIG problem, the doors have locked and I CANNOT GET OUT!!"

"Just a moment", says she. "I'm going to call the technician..." yea great... this should be interesting...

so then she comes back on the line... "Did you try the back door?"

"BACK DOOR?!?!"

"Yes, there should be a door in the back, and should be unlocked... you can get out using that door."

Sure enough at the back of the building is an "emergency exit door", with one of those push bars. I'm thinking at least if an alarm goes off, I've got the lady on the phone who knows it IS an "emergency"....and it opens (no alarm thank heavens!).

So about this time, I'm saying goodbye to the lady on the phone, when the other lady comes back and is banging on the doors....

So I have to tell her -- yes I'm locked in, and for her to drive to the back door which IS open, and I will PROP the DOOR OPEN! Then I will have to walk around the building to get to my vehicle, so I can drive my vehicle around the back to get my laundry!!!

So that is my story.... and now let the laughing commence.... and no, I do not plan to go back to that laundry mat again....
