This is the link to the SD thread the last time this TV was posted (note: New last time vs. Refurbished). People seemed to think it was a pretty good deal then.

Some Wal-Mart reviews. [walmart.com]

It seems like this TV may be a rebranded Samsung (the base sort of hints at this?) and that the brand Hisense may be popular in Austrailia and China. It seems like a fine TV, especially at this price where you can pay an additional $65 for a Wal-Mart 2 year warranty to get around the limited 90 warranty for being a refurb.

I don't know what do other SDers think?

Thanks. Looks like the new one was $200 more. For 55 inch tv it is decent deal.

Hisense is a popular brand in china and made in Qingdao (Tsingtao), China. The city is also the hometown of Haier and Tsingtao Beer.

I would say HIsense is a better TV maker than Haier.

Really?? Surprising. Believe it or not, I'm actually pretty loyal to Haier. I've bought their products for years now and never ran into a single issue. Six-year old 42" LCD from Costco for $550 is still running pretty strong, but wouldn't mind upgrading. Just wasn't sure if Hisense was an actual upgrade or not.

Anyone able to say? --> (1) is LED only edge-lit? Or (2) any chance this has picture-in-picture? (wouldn't even mention except someone suspected Samsung rebrand)

not a bad deal, but need to include tax and a warrnaty upgrade since its refurbished. I'd rather pay a little more for a real brand name...after all most ppl dont buy TV's more than every 5 yrs or so

My parents have had the same 32 inch CRT TV since they moved into their house 15 years ago. It still works fine but they want to upgrade to a bigger newer TV

I'm sticking with Slickdeals for HDTV deals, but these off brands make me wary of purchase
