It's definitely not 11.5" thick. That is most likely the thickness of the base, but the thickness of the TV should be at most 2" and probably less for LEDs.
Agreed. Check out this link for the 46". Im sure the measurement is of the base.

An old listing for the new version of this item, with the same model number, is here http://www.walmart.com/ip/Generic...10&veh=aff

Assuming that it is indeed the same model, it's 1.5 inches thick. Very slick.

^^ People reported on the thread for that version that it was in fact 3d -- but that the feature was unadvertised. As I said earlier, the model number is exactly the same. So I'd say with a high degree of confidence that this is going to be 1.5". Good news indeed!

Sorry, I couldn't bring myself to buy a refurbished television even if it were a name brand......given the fact it's a Hisense just completely pushes me away from considering this.

To add insult to injury, it's being offered by Wal-Mart, who I do not do business with.

I am not thumbing this deal down or anything, but I personally do not see a "deal" here at all. Just a low end TV that's already been serviced once, being sold again by the worse retail chain in the business. No thank you.

I was at my local Walmart and got a chance to check out this TV in person. I must say I was very impressed by the picture quality. I was just glancing at all the TVs without looking at the brand name, and I honestly thought the picture quality of this TV didn't look that much different from other name brands like Samsung, Sony.

OOS as of 3:40 eastern time
It's back in stock at 3:45 PST, keep checking it seems to go in and out of stock. Maybe they are updating as soon as somone returns a set somewhere in America.

this has been posted before with a few others (including myself) pulling up what info we could. Hisense (at least the one posted before) uses the same panel samsung does. If you actually look at their products they actually look like clone copies of samsungs especially with the metal stand. They're a popular brand over in australia and have good customer service as far as the few who have (unfortunately) have anecdotes of it. All in all, with some calibration this tv can look great.

seems to be OOS, glad I pulled the trigger when I did. I don't think I have ever seen a 55" LED 3D tv this cheap before.

I bit.

Been having an interesting time web searching for things like F55T39EGWD [google.com], LTDN55T39XWUS3D [google.com]. (both mostly just link to walmart, slickdeals and tons of other "deal" sites) I think its safe to assume its a "T39 series". Searching for that comes up with the au site which has a link to a T39 series page with no models listed [com.au] Frown, and also a HL55T39PZLN3D [com.au]. The HL55T39PZLN3D is listed with better specs (6ms vs 8ms response time, 450 vs 400 brightness etc) but Im guessing (hoping?) that the models are similar. I have a gut feeling that this is an awesome TV for the price, the gamble being if it lasts 3 months vs 3+ years.

Edge lit is meh but at this price I'll take it. Im really hoping that the internet connectivity has apps for netflix + hulu. (have many other means to get them but it would be a nice convenience 'specially if the unit went to a friend/family member)

If I really like it Ill probably keep it. If its so/so might give it to the parents and if it sucks I'll simply take it back and save the money for an even better deal. Im not proud to shop at walmart but I take advantage of them all the time.

Thanks OP.

Mine I've had around 6 months at least. No problems what so ever. Has plenty of apps for wifi, I know it has netflix, forget the others off hand. It's also firmware upgradeable right through the menus over wifi.

For those asking about 3d glasses that work with it.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...01_s00_i00

Those are the ones I got for mine and they work great. Rechargeable, last a long time. I'm extremely happy with the purchase of the TV and finding the glasses that work with it. HiSense has their own glasses, but I could never get through to their ordering or customer service. Their shopping area of the website was down too. So support not great everthing else is awesome. Super thin, amazing picture. I want another. Viewing angle are good. I have an L shaped setup for seating and at either far end it still looks good. As I mentioned on page 2, everyone that comes over and looks at it is amazed at picture quality. Even during the day with a room that doesn't have darkening shades it still looks good. The original one listed around super bowl the model # didn't end in a 3d, so people were hesitant about it being 3d, but it certainly is. F55T39EGWD is the model # listed on the back of the TV. I can't remember if the original slickdeals post back then listed that model #, I'm thinking it may have been something else on the box. Im not positive on that though. Looking at the descriptions on Walmart.com

Is the same model # TV, the bottom link being the refurb from the OP, top one is a brand new one for $848 or whatever it says.

Thanks for the link to the glasses and great info. Having owned the TV for a bit now, maybe you can comment on some reviews have said that there is a bit of light leak in dark scenes. Would you agree with this?

I'm not really an expert in Home Theatre, I do own Samsung and Phillips LCD TV's, the picture on this Hisense blows them out of the water. The dark scenes seem fine to me. I haven't really noticed any "light Leak". I watch alot of darker movies too. Pirates of the Caribbean, Priest, Underworld series of movies, Resident Evil series of movies, etc...
