Maybe because we were learning proper spelling and grammar instead of playing video games growing up.

Seriously though, older people are at a disadvantage because they didn't have video games available growing up. They didn't have the opportunity to spend hundreds or thousands of hours playing when they were young. When video games became available, they often had other responsibilities such as raising their own children.

Even if they did have the time to play, their children were hogging the consoles. Damn whippersnappers.
