Direct TV-Viacom dispute=Credit on your bill tomorrow

has anyone called today and got any sort of credit?

DirecTV needs to have someone who speaks proper English proof their propaganda website www.directvpromise.com. Here's the opening paragraph on the home page:

And I love that DirecTV wants a la carte for themselves with Viacom but not for the customer and yet has the audactity to state that customers should be able to choose which channels they want:

All that said, I am a DirecTV sub for 14 years because of Sunday Ticket and have no plans on leaving (I never watch any of the Viacoms except Palladia once in a while so this episode won't really affect me).

I called 1-800-824-9081 in the prompt I said cancel service.

I am in contract with 5 months left, this is my first time calling the cancel reps. I was offered:
20 off every month for 1 year,
8 off every month or 1 year for the dvr service,
5 off every month for 3 months due to the viacom dispute.

They said 5 off varies from 3 months to 6 varying on your account.

Overall I'm happy for now for a bit hopefully it will be dissolved soon.

It's not fully Directv (Fios, Dish, etc) that keep a la cart away from customers, you can also blame companies like Viacom, Fox, etc who own multi networks for bribing Congress into killing any bill that comes across the floor.

Personally, I support Directv in this fight. I don't want my bill going up for Viacom's channels. I say put those channels in their own package, like HBO or Showtime and charge whatever it takes to get Viacom their 30% increase.

Viacom won't like that because then they MIGHT have to actually create shows (spend money) other then following around scripted "reality" Jersey shore type people.

If those channels are popular enough to merit a 30% increase, as Viacom claims, then they should easily have enough customers to subscribe.

It took about an hour when all was said and done but ended up getting $5 off & free showtime for three months. At first they were only going to offer me 1 month of showtime but if you do enough bitching about Xfininity and leaving they'll up the offer.
This time around D*TV seems to be a hard sell though...they are really not very forthcoming with the compensation.
