That's not the same monitor, the one sold on ebay uses a cheaper e-ips panel. Notice the letter at then end of the model number, U2412H the one here on slickdeals is the U2412M. i really would have loved to pick this up, its very hard to find 1920X1200 Monitors these days. Especially one with 24" Viewable with IPS and LED technology. It's showing $369.99 retail, then i can use the coupon code which brings it down to 345~ ish Last edited by jasonelmore; 07-13-2012 at 01:59 AM.. |

Amazon [amazon.com] has the monitor in the OP for $309.99, with Prime. More expensive, on the face of it, but it's a savings for me, if I decide to order it, because there's no 9.75% sales tax on top of the price, for me, as there would be on top of Dells' price + shipping. (the link takes you to the product; consult other buying choices on the right, for Amazon's price)
I do not pay for shipping. Consider it your privilege to serve me!

http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Dell-Ultr...4340.l2644 You'll see that the M model is around 300 (minus a few bucks) normally. |

That's one of the best prices I have seen for this monitor on a consumer level. I can fortunately get these through my employer for $250. I have been thinking about getting 3 for an Eyefinity setup. What graphics card do you guys thing would be best price/performance for this setup?

Buyer's remorse; Bought two of these monitors and ever since using them I have constant headaches. I was able to be on my old non-led monitors for up to 15 hours with no issues. These new LED monitors give me headaches and eye strain after 30 minutes. I have the brightness all the way down to 10. Any suggestions ? Whats the alternative ? Seems like just about everything out there is LED !!!???

Did you try turning down the contrast too? I keep my brightness on 0 and my contrast way down too. I get headaches from bright monitors and I use computers at least 10 hours a day. I found this to be the solution for me.

One possibility could be the AG coating causing eye strain... then headaches. If you don't get headaches from glossy LEDs (at lowered brightness levels) it may be the coating. Otherwise, it could be due to pulse width modulation. And in that case it can be tricky to fix, unless you go for a different type of monitor. Lowering brightness may actually make things worse as pwm is higher (which is better as far as flickering goes), at higher brightness settings. Some people have done odd things, like increasing brightness to 100%, then wearing sunglasses, or lowering color levels on a software level, but I can't see either of those being great solutions. When I owned a 2412, I found it really bothered my eyes. I hated the AG coating, but part of it could have been the LED too. There was no way to know for certain if LED bothered me or not (AG coating bugged me enough as it was). I have a LED netbook, but I keep that on high brightness (can get away with that since it's a small screen)... so pwm will be high anyway. And my main monitor is ccfl, and somewhat old, so brightness is around 70%+. So the only thing I can suggest is first determining what the cause is, either LED pulse modulation or the AG coating. As the other poster suggested, sometimes it's due to the monitor being too bright, but at 10%, I wouldn't think that would be the case here. Anyone know offhand what the min brightness level is for the 2412? If you can get it down to around 100-120 candelas, I'd think brightness would be fine. Google about and try the program f.lux , the filters seem to help if you're not doing color sensitive work
